The port was organized and was flowing smoothly as far as we could tell. Got to the luggage pretty easy and found our all day tour excursion area with ACT Big Bus, which was excellent.

lot of confusion about our excursion. Worked out in the end, but the name of the excursion company did not match the ticket, etc. the bus driver from whittier to anchorage talked incessantly and some of his conversation topic (people getting killed here and there on the highway) was out of place for tourists, imo.

Nothing to do in this town; we followed an excursion bus which we followed into the national forest (we stopped where they stopped to take photo ops) then followed the bus the Visitor Center (learned more of the town and local hiking trails. We drove to the Alaskan Conservation Center where we saw bears, bison, elk, reindeer, eagles, lynx, moose, etc.

We rode a bus to Anchorage from the airport. First impression of Alaska was not good. Hotel was fine but the town was dirty and we were tired and hungry. Need to have a quick buffet or food choice after flying all day. Everywhere we went was crowded and did not realize how expensive the food is in Alaska.
