Good. All we did was board the train to Talkeetna. Shopped and had lunch at Wildflowers. Great hamburgers. Waiter was very rude, when time to pay our bill she didn't want to separate ours from a couple that sit at the same table with us because their was no where else for them to be seated. ???

Not much to see in this town with 187 people. Stop in Girdwood on way to Whittier from Anchorage at the Wildlife Sanctuary if you can.

Took the train from Anchorage to Whittier - and it was FANTASTIC. Highly recommended and you'll typically get to the ship hours before the airport buses get there.

We took our last excursion to Chugach National Forest. We went through this wildlife preserve. There was a lot of free animals and some that were in enclosures like a couple of moose. Great ending to our trip. When we flying home we could see the tops of all the glaciers you cant get to and also that they are all melting. Sad.

We actually stayed in Anchorage for a few days prior to beginning the land portion of the cruise, staying at the Hotel Captain Cook (that is basically unavailable if not booked through Princess). I'd stayed there 20 years ago and it hasn't changed (I enjoyed it the first time and enjoyed it this time). Anchorage hasn't really changed much in the interim period so I was able to take my wife to the haunts I visited in my first trip (definitely stop by Humpy's Alaskan Alehouse for king crab and beer). The Native Alaskan Cultural Center was interesting (it's outside of town but there is a free shuttle that stops by the Hotel Captain Cook. We weren't impressed with the Museum that is a few blocks from the hotel.

I transferred here to the train to Talkeetna. We loved Talkeetna, especially the Spinach Bread food truck. A lovely town to explore on foot! In Fairbanks, the Nenana River White Water Rafting trip was an unforgettable ride. We would like to have been warned to bring an extra zipped tote bag for sending formal clothes ahead to Fairbanks.
