Very small town and think that’s what makes it so interesting. Took a tour around the town and out of town and saw many bald eagles and salmon in the streams. Saw some totem poles too. Went to the bear area but no luck with that. Bears really don’t live on our schedule but still a great time. All of our tour guides were great. They really know a lot about the town’s history and nature. They made many stops so you can get out and walk around and that makes the tour special.

We loved our flight-seeing experience with Island Wings Air Service to the Misty Fjords National Monument!! Michele, the pilot, was great. We also had a good time walking around town and Creek Street. The Duck-boat excursion was okay; the guide and captain were humorous. We had our first Eagle-sightings in Alaska while on the Duck-boat; so that was a real treat. We also say more eagles in Juneau.

Went to the visitor center and picked up a small map (not the one with pages of ads and discounts). We followed the creek side trail on the map. The salmon were spawning and so thick they covered the width of the creek. The map takes you by the fish hatchery. Very interesting.
