Review summary

Our butler, Joey, and cabin attendance, Joe, were outstanding! I can't stop complimenting the Eclipse management and staff. We had a great cruise and will be looking to book Eclipse out of Vancouver again next year.

Embarkation

Vancouver was a nightmare in the Celebrity area. The Celebrity Staff, Dorothy, who checked us in, did not have a clue on how the process worked. She could not find our suite keys and forgot to take our picture for our sea passes. We had to tell her she had to take our pictures or we couldn't get on the ship. Once we arrived at the waiting area, another local Celebrity staff told everyone to board. What a race, and totally a misjudgment in crowd management. Other staff were very frustrated at his involvement. Drop off for Canada Place is well run and they deserve credit on that operation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall, the food and drink rates 5 stars, but the suites restaurant, Luminea, was a big disappointment. Very limited choices and the service, while polite, was lacking. Muranos was outstanding!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Large variety but we did not participate. One BIG negative was the Spa ... don't bother; the Persian Garden was a total rip-off. Won't ever waste $ on that one again.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Only saw one show the first night. It was nothing special so we never attended another show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was our 15th cruise and first on Celebrity. Eclipse had the best staff from Captain Michael to the cleaning and laundry personnel we have ever seen. BIG kudos to the ship's staff. Would rate them a "10" if I could!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean ship but shows it's age with the ship design. Felt like an old ship, but not by appearance, just design.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great suite cabin and would certainly reserve the same again. Nice, large balcony and very spacious interior with walk-in closet. A bath and 1/2 was very nice. Enjoyed all the benefits that came with the suite, too. Can't go wrong with this suite.

Ship tip

Overall, a very enjoyable cruise to Alaska. Minimal problems versus outstanding service, this one deserves serious consideration. We would book again!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
What a city. Flew in two days early and were glad we did. Stayed in the Marriott Pinnacle, four blocks from Canada Place. We will be back. Very friendly people and beautiful parks and sights to see.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Just amazing to be so close to land. Loved the change from Caribbean cruising.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Hoonah was really special. Try the Icy Straits Brewery in downtown on the main road ... fantastic brew!

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Breathe taking experience. You have to see it to fully appreciate the majesty of the glacier.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
A lot to do. Took a float plane over the Juneau Ice Field and saw 5 glaciers, visited Mendenhall Glacier and Nuggett Falls ... another spectacular experience!

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Historical town to just walk the streets and get a feel of Alaskan life. Great place!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This is one thing Canada Place does right. Easy to get luggage and out to tranportation. Kudos to the port.
