We used this Port to do our shopping, so we got this out of the way. The stores and the people waiting on you were really nice. We walked the town as much as we could and ate lunch at the Alaska Fish House. Highly recommend eating here. The food was excellent, and the view is great.

We didn’t do an excursion here. This is the perfect port to do all your shopping since there is a big town with many stores and restaurants. Talbots and the store next to it has some good deals. Also sockeye sams has good you knives if you want one of those. Annebelles I heard was a good restaurant to eat here and I heard the Alaskan lumberjack show was a good excursion too as well as saxman village. This is the perfect port to shop in or do a short tour.

We were told to prepare for rain so we wore our waterproof pants and jackets. It rained hard nearly the whole time in port. We did the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Walk. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the plant and animal life there. She pointed out the various plants and animal life and told us about them. We saw banana slugs, a black bear, otters, and eagles before going inside to see totem pole artists. Loved this tour!

We only saw the area by the port but liked it. Our daughter, son in law and their 2 kids ages 11 and 7 went to the Saxson Village and enjoyed it. They saw totem poles and the Indians put on a nice show. The shops by the port have some neat things in them. We ate lunch at Annabelles. The seafood was great.

Cute port. But also if you walk just a little bit, you can get beyond the touristy stuff and see what life is really like. First, do the Lumberjack Show (a little hokey, but entertaining and really neat to see all the techniques that lumberjacks use). From there we recommend the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center which you walked past on the way to the Lumberjack Show. After that, walk the Married Man's trail STARTING at Creek St. & Stedman so you can enjoy all the little locally owned boutiques on Creek. It ends by a salmon jumping spot. We try to steer clear of the tourist stores and only spend money only at shops that directly impact the local economy!

Ketchikan was a nice port to walk around in. Lots to see and do. Plenty of shops. We bought rain proof jackets there ( only $19.99) and wore them the rest of the cruise. We saw the lumberjack show and it was very good. We walked along Creek Street. We boarded the ship and enjoyed sailing away from Ketchikan. As we were sailing away we saw a whale in the distance spouting and several orca fins.

Our final planned excursion was the 4 hour boat ride in Ketchikan to Misty Fjords. This was a long excursion that precluded us from any other activity in Ketchikan. The bulk of the ride in either direction was taken up with talks from the naturalist and native American speaker. However, the cruise through Rudyerd Bay was worth the trip! So beautiful! It was like no place I've ever seen. So green with ribbon waterfalls, seals, bald eagles, and puffins, we were fortunate enough this rainy day to have this part of the ride without precipitation. I loved it.

We did the the Alaska Hummer Adventure but we did not buy through the Cruise ship. We got off the boat about an hour or two after most people fled out to their excursions then went to the huts set up in front of the ship and end of pier to see what adventures awaited us. Luckily they had one last Hummer Adventure available and it was significantly cheaper then through the cruise ship. Loved our Tour guide/Driver. She was a local and was so full of original history of Alaska and Ketchikan.

Lumberjack show was cheesy but enjoyable. Totem Night State park was beautiful and interesting. We liked the Fish House, and shopping was good. We also had great weather.
