Not much there there. Went whale watching. Expensive for what we got, which was distant views of some humpbacks. It was fun, but not fabulous. Town not much to see. "Trail" just brief foray into the woods, then signs to tell you not to walk any further.

Hoonah was a little disappointing plus the shuttle ran very infrequently and was very full.

I have done the zipline both times I was here and I can't say enough great things about it. You literally get a mini tour of the town with this because you have to go through Hoonah to get to the launching point. I really would like to have done the ATV tour of the island, which was cancelled the last time I was here, but it was a bit expensive. There is a tours building as soon as you get off the tender and the prices in there were less than on the ship, but they couldn't guarantee a spot on any tour, only if they had room. But only one ship (yours) visits that day and people tend to shy away from the active stuff. Moral of the story- wait to get on shore to buy tours.

Would have liked to have had more time here. We took a whale watching cruise and had no extra time left after we returned mid-day.

We have never stopped there on our past cruises. Would like to have been there during the daylight. Maybe next time.

Liked this port, due to the fact it was a native people. We did take the excursion "Spasski River Valley Wildlife & Bear Search". We did not see bear but the guide was wonderful. She explained everything about the Valley and the town. This was great.

Be aware NCL bought a dock far away from town and excursions. Bad directions and signage as you need to take gondola to get to the other dock. Saves NCL but inconvenience for passengers.

Very cool to walk on the beach and see muscle beach (black shells attached to rocks, phrase from Spongebob). The marine life was active, and fishing is $10 for kids and $30 for adults ($10 + $20 day license). Recommend fishing in the morning. People like the zip line and it looked the best on the trip, but for $120 we passed. There is a town 1.5 miles away, but we didn't get to it.
