Wonderful cruise on beautiful ship

Lovely experience, lovely ship (on the smaller side). We had a great time from start to finish! Staff were excellent. Food was good to great. Tuscan Grill was amazing!!! Internet was poor, made keeping in touch with family difficult.

Serenade of the Seas

February 2018 - 11 Night Southern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

This was a good cruise overall. Giovannis was good, we went twice. Chop was great too. MDR food was mostly good, and our MDR service was excellent. Hat's off to Welkin and Bojan for their skills and for making us laugh every day - I looked forward to seeing them each day at dinner. Chair hogs at both main pool and solarium were a real problem (with 4 sea days on this cruise), staff left a note but were not timing them so nothing was done. Literally saw a fight almost break out between two older men! Found chairs and sun by the kids pool since there were virtually no kids on this trip and kids pool was rarely in use. Good cruise, but I think we would prefer to stick with ships about 1 class larger in the future.

Adventure of the Seas

January 2017 - 7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip) Cruise on Adventure of the Seas

Overall this was a great cruise! Food ranged from good to great, stateroom and attendant Kelvin were great, itinerary was excellent! the ship is in good condition, despite the abbreviated renovations. at times there was a bit of a sewer smell in the hallway but thankfully we never experienced any plumbing problems. was slightly disappointed about chops and izumi delays - would have been nice to have them as, although good quality, MDR gets a bit tiring by the end of the week. loved having breakfast in the MDR - many people dont know there is a small buffet in there, so it was much quieter than windjammer and still very fast. giovanni's was excellent! staff were friendly and cheerful for the most part. my only tiny complaint - wished they would leave the ice cream machine open a bit later...a few times I found myself craving a treat while having an evening deck stroll after the show/casino/lounge, and didn't want to go all the way down to the promenade (minor complaint, I know). The ice show was fantastic, as was the guitarist/singer in the Duck & Dog pub - he had everyone singing along all night! Overall I would highly recommend this cruise!

Cruise tips

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Amazing! We had seen glaciers before in the rockies so werent expecting much difference, boy were we susprised! Captain Theo got us right to the legal limit and we saw amazing calving. Unbelievable!

Skagway, Alaska

Rented a car from Affordable car rentals. Went drive the white pass highway into BC and Yukon, turned around at Emerald Lake. Amazing day! Stopped at one of the dogsledding places, pet the puppies and went for a ride. Carcross for lunch. The scenery is amazing!

Juneau, Alaska

Visites mendenhall glacier and nugget falls. Went the other way from town via a taxi and watched the salmon spawning, amazing! Lunch at twisted fish in town was great

Ponce, Puerto Rico

We booked a private tour with Waterland Adventures. We took a boat ride to Isla Cardona, and had the whole island to ourselves for the day. Snorkeled, explored the lighthouse, swam, and sunned. Little lizards everywhere, they are so fun to watch. Chicken skewers were great, and they served $2 beer. It was a bit hectic getting to the dock from the ship - we were only the second ship in this port so they are still new to this but will get used to it in time as they learn. Overall a good trip and would do again.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

prior to going to st Kitts, I thought I wouldn't like it. there wasn't much that appealed to me in terms of tours. we decided to take a taxi to the beach and hope for the best, worst case scenario go back to the ship early. boy was I wrong! !! took a taxi to south friars beach, I believe we paid $8/pp. our driver stopped along the way for us to take pictures and explained about the island. rented 2 chairs and umbrella at Carambola for $22. it was gorgeous! nice beach and beautiful scenery. some limited snorkeling right off the beach near the pier as well. the bar in the resort was a bit slow as it got busier toward lunch, but that's a minor issue. so glad i was wrong about st. kitts, and I can't wait to go back!!
