WHEN YOU HAVE THE SHIP PRACTICALLY TO YOURSELF...EVERYTHING CHANGES

Regulars in here know we hardly ever get off those W. Carib boat rides anymore...been to all those ports several times...not interested in the loooong walks, over priced sweaty tours (to places we've been) or paying for "amenities" which in fact are free onboard..Greatest parts of last one on VISTA were 3 port days...wandered to the pizzeria, no lines..had TWO pepperonies made fresh for us, watching the crowds on shore through my 10x50's...went to the deli...tried to eat our way thtrough their menu...no line, sit anywhere...same everywhere, went strolling, spoke to three different ship's officers...about nothing worth remembering...heheh..didn't get to see Captain Guilliame SanDePietrogeppetto tho...busy planning his next medical evac no doubt. (j/k...sort of)

Did our usual Continental on the balcony...Thanks AB...or more accurately, Tony the delivery kid thanks you for his raise to $3 per day...(set it up with room service almost ASA we got into the cabin)...then off to the MDR..fixed the HUB so we didn't even have to mess with it..got a notification our reservation was waiting, no reply or confirmation response necessary) and off to our breakfast table...nobody looked or even blinked...same for Dinner BTW, different table...(by the second day the "gate guards" smiled and waved, then went back to helping the multitude of lost souls).......then off to the "HAVANA EXPERIENCE" private, even quieter if thats possible...and NOBODY messes with your stuff when you leave it to go eat AGAIN...how quaint!! Some folks might say thats a boring day...not me...learned just how pleasant boring can be, a looooooong timne ago....always folks around to chat with, if thats your thing..

That was a delightful time for the passengers!

As terrible as those times were....it sounds incredible!

We enjoyed the empty ship when Carnival started up after co vid. We were on one of the first cruises out of Galveston on Vista. More crew than passengers. Crew bending over backwards to wait on you, talking to you about their country, etc. No food lines, dine when you feel like it , bars empty, comedy shows not full, casinos not full of smoke, no chair hogs, an empty ship all to ours. We went on as many as we could back in "the good ole days" Now ships are full people everywhere, now to get that empty ship feeling we stay on board during port days, it is just like the first after co vid days. Been on many cruises to all the ports, "been there done that" So as they say the ship is the vacation

Ah yes, $$. The Great Equalizer....

Thanks .... takes a bit o planning and (((gasp)) work....lest I forget...$$ helps too....

That sounds like a perfect Cruise experience Yank!

Glad y'all had a good time

It well done. I enjoyed reading it!

PS: My review is up.

Hopefully the second time will be a charm. Good thing I copy my posts to my WP Program. So without further adieu:

You're welcome Tony. It was no small feat persuading the Yankster to up his RS tips.

For the first time in our cruising lives we spent a port day staying on the ship. We did not get off in Cozumel, and I can now say from experience that it truly is a unique and wonderful experience. With 80-90% of the passengers running around the island, my wife and I enjoyed hot & fresh food, and drinks served by a waiter. No standing at the bar frantically waiving my card to get one of the overworked bartenders attention. We had our pick of literally dozens of deck chairs AND actually had the Serenity Pool all to ourselves for close to 30 minutes (at around midday no less). Truly a marvelous experience that we will do again.

We didn't do the other things you suggest (like set up dining for a regular time or table) but the HUB worked fine for our "My Time Dining". We never had more than a 10 minute wait once we requested a reservation.

BTW, I could have sworn the ship's captain you named (Guilliame SanDePietrogeppetto) was OUR captain. Since we were in the same ports on the same days, I wonder if they were messing around by switching ships.

As usual AB...interesting post that didn't post...this gets tiresome..........
