What's your unconventional favorite thing about cruising? I'll go first...

Let's have some fun.

Mine is the sound of the toilet flush!! That "woosh" and the valve slaming shut cracks me up!!! Seriously one of my weird favorites!

The View! While it may not technically fall under the definition of "unconventional", to me it is unparalleled.

There is something about the vastness of the sea that helps me get out of my "self", and for those brief moments to focus on and appreciate the beauty and majesty of this world. When I'm standing on an upper deck, usually at sunrise or sunset, and all I can see is ocean in every direction, I feel closer to my Creator than I ever have while standing on land, and I am grateful that I have been given the opportunity to experience this life.

Even looking at the ocean from a beach doesn't compare.

Sorry, you wanted this to be fun, and I got all philosophical.

Couldn't agree more...first thing in the am with the freebie continental breakfast, then last thing at nite....only times we don't is bad weather, I mean actual rain or uncooperative wind...watching serious waves is hypnotic...fortunately we don't get seasick...

I love stepping out on the balcony just before getting into bed. The sound of the ocean, the wind blowing in my face and skies full of stars. I don't care that there are cameras that might catch me in my nightgown because that moment is just so peaceful to me.

This does not happen as much on the bigger ships and their stabilizers. In the past, the gentle rocking on a ship was something your body started accommodating and adjusting over the days at sea. You still bumped into a bulkhead periodically and laughed, but it was fun. THEN - you went ashore. As you are standing, you suddenly catch yourself starting to counter the movement your mind knew was coming - yet it never materialized. You make that little jerk, and smiled.

This used to be called your 'sea legs'. It was always a funny feeling and you always questioned yourself - why did I just do that ??? Fun times and memories.

Wish the ones around here were as efficient......anywho, cruising a couple times a year with a few thousand other people reinforces our decision to move to the back of beyond 25 years ago. Well worth the refresher. I know thats an "unconventional" response, but its also the truth.
