What's your unconventional favorite thing about cruising? I'll go first...

Let's have some fun.

Mine is the sound of the toilet flush!! That "woosh" and the valve slaming shut cracks me up!!! Seriously one of my weird favorites!

That sounds so cool!

I used to cruise out of Galveston a lot and enjoyed the return-home sea day when the Gulf of Mexico would be flat like glass.

One sunset on the return home the seas were flat, and the wind blew from behind us at about the same speed as the ship.

This counteracted the normal headwinds to where it felt like there was no breeze at all.

Flat seas and dead air. It was surrealistic from what you usually experience out on the bow deck.

Well when you put it like that.... the beauty in that is fun!! I agree with all you said.

Come to think of it, it just MAY be unconventional, seeing as how alot of folks seem to be rushing all over the ship going gawd knows where to do.....something....finding one of those nooks may or may not be difficult, depending on a few factors...but...sitting out there to regroup and clear our heads is why we pay for a balcony to begin with.....been known to do it way late at nite.....

i love finding a quiet cozy nook (or being on my balcony) where i can just sit and enjoy a drink while watching the sea and letting my cares float away.

You're killing me! Add a shipful of passengers who know how to behave.

Let’s see….what is unconventional now ?..towel animals. Mints on your bed , which used to be made up and turned down every day. Photographers annoying you at every turn. Getting a deck of cards printed by the cruise line for free at the desk, or the game room. Ships libraries, which are disappearing ( for a quiet place in the morning ).

Agree completely!

Absolutely!

Along that thought, the color BLUE. Two of my favorite shades of blue are the blueness of the Ocean seen from a ship at sea in deep waters. That same deep blue hue being churned by the ship's propellers at the aft of the ship. The second is the blue within the icebergs/bergy bits/growlers recently fallen from a glacier. The blue originates from the age and compression of the ice over its life.

Both, are sights that always impress me, while on a cruise ship.
