What cruise line is best for Alaska?

So my BF and I had a great debate tonight... We agree we both want to go on an alaskan cruise. We have been loyal crown and anchor members on RCI, but I've been looking into Celebrity for this Alaskan cruise. I will soon be platinum with RCI, and if I understand correctly, I would have a similar level on Celebrity's program. I tried explaining things to my BF about exploring outside of just RCI, different itineraries, ports etc etc, but his stance is "Why would we sacrifice a cruise and points on a cruise with a different line"

So loyalty aside, because it may just take some time to convince him, but honest feedback for those who have done Alaska.. What is the best cruise line for Alaska...

Thinks I know/prefer:

Get a balcony

must be 7+ days

Prefer to port out of a US port- Seattle more than likely

You make some good points. I know I'm looking at the price and itinerary, but the BF is looking at points. In my mind, the rock wall and wave rider are going to be a moot point on an Alaskan cruise for the weather purposes. Like I said, the balcony is high on our list. From what I can tell bewtween the RCI and Celebrity cruises, the stops are the same, just in a different order, but Celebrity stops at one extra city.

Hey -- I resemble that remarkBig Smile

In my opinion you can not go wrong on Celebrity. the Solstice Class ships are the nicest I have been on. Celebrity and RCI are the same company but Celebrity is more upscale with better food, more elegant ships but does not have all the amenities that RCI does for activities, no Rock wall, Surf rider or ice skating. Celebrity also gets an older crowd and less children then then RCI.

Since they are in the same company your Captains club level benefits transfer to Celebrity but the points do not get combined.

I have done both RCI and Celebrity and enjoyed both, but I also have had fun on Carnival. In Alaska you are going to see Alaska, not the ship. I would choose the Itinerary and price point then worry about a few points. Choose the ship where you can afford the Balcony cabin, Alaska is one place that a balcony would be worth the extra $$.

That's what I tried telling him, but men never like listening until it's too late.

I am not loyal to any line -- the programs are becoming watered down anyway.

I would rather be able to choose any itinerary on any ship without worrying whether or not I get a free drink. Each line has something different to offer, and I don't want to risk the burnout factor.

That is good to know Happy

I cruised Alaska 3 times Holland America , RCCL , Princess ,I liked all 3 cruise lines
