Well, If I Can't Cruise...

I always thought that cruising was an expensive hobby.

Since the cabin fever started kicking in, I decided to go to San Antonio to see what was happening there.

Did a little shopping and ended up having our offer on a house accepted. Closing should be in about three weeks.

This not cruising thing will drive me to bankruptcy!Big Smile

well all the junque stores around the ALAMO are for touristas only....course most of their stuff was made in China anyway. Seriously, drove around SA many times, just exploring...nice place....actually, hottern HERE, which I don't mind, and as long as the hurricanes swing east of there, you should be in good shape...we usually cruise out of NOLA or Galveston.. both are equidistant from us. Now that you're leaving Laredo, will there be any norteamericanos left???

Soy no hablo Espanol.

I am looking forward to living in a place where Spanish isn't a required language.

Hmmmm...might have more use for English than ever before.....

Our next two cruises (if they happen) will be out of Ft Lauderdale and Port Canaveral (Princess and NCL - they don't port at Galveston).

As far as "sailing" to my new house, we will be leaving Laredo.

We are on exactly the same page...proudest moment of my life (up till then and for several years thereafter) was getting that 3rd stripe in a kick azz line outfit in a combat zone. and when the rotor blades do indeed get dinged everyone was wearing muddy green that said USA on em. Not counting 2lt's of course....you could smell the starch, deodorant...clean uniforms..at least at first......I had one who used Old Spice..till he was told that the ..AHEM..."other side" could smell him....he thought I was kidding...I think he caught the idea that those kind of jokes amongst armed men with bad attitudes in a combat zone aren't funny....sometimes i wondered who was more dangerous to my health, the VC or new gold bars...us/them has a whole different meaning to "us"......"they" were out there...thats all...now then..back to hoops!!!!

BTW, I assume you'll be sailing out of Galveston???

Two things to clear up

1) Didn't graduate there. Ended up enlisting wearing the green.(Don't "Sir" me -- I worked for a living)

2) Inter-rank or inter-service rivalry is all in good fun. When the stuff hits the fan, we all depend on each other to back us up (except 2nd LTs, of course).

(Please read the appropriate amount of sarcasm/humor in the aboveBig Smile)

That too! Sorry I sometimes get frustrated when the "us versus them" raises it's head in the military setting. To me it was always "we or us" no "them". You just happened to push one of my many buttons, and I reacted without thinking or noticing your humor. I was "scolded" a few times for my lack of keeping the "lines" between enlisted and officer spouses. To me their was/is no distinction.

Enough!!! Back to getting BDRebel on a cruise so he stop buying new houses!Big Smile And the rest of with him so we can buy him a drink to celebrate his new house.

AH I get it sorry...didn't do much time states side. I wasn't high enough in the pecking order to care much about IG inspections. Left that to the higher ups who thought they had a career path. Tears over inspections?? Im...jealous...My paths were all for walking down..but mostly avoided..we tried to avoid discussions about peoples families tho...less angst.....met my CO's widow when i got home..she didnt live far away at all....nice woman...bad circumstances...nuff said...

Yes, you need a cruise. So do I! I guess I saw too many commanders relieved for not passing IG inspections. Things look different from the wife’s viewpoint. Many of my friends were often in tears.

Whut?? i'm confuzzled...canned? who??? 2lt's were to be avoided, or if you couldn't, then ignored..1lt's and capts, well, they learned their trade or didnt get to be 1lts or capts...anything above that, hardly saw em...especially when things got noisy....AF types??? nice blue suits...if I had any brains, I wouldve traded it all in for 3 hots and a cot...it was all a looooong time ago, in a place far far away, that actually doesn't even exist anymore...jeez I need a cruise....
