Check with Carnival on this but....I was in the same position needing a couple of nights to become Gold...At embarkation I was thrilled to see that I was Gold on that cruise and had a special pin waiting in my cabin as well as free water, drink coupons, and there was a special celebration for new gold card cruisers with free alcohol drinks and great appetizers.

Yes they are, but it's going to be your first one...so go get it. We did as did our first time Gold and first time Platinum in our party.

come to find out some folks are upset about the pins. The pin selection was generic on our ship.

Be sure to go to Pixels to pick up your pin as they are not beig delivered to your cabin at this time. Also you will need to go to a bar to get you bottle od water and your drink the last evening of the cruise (check out all of your perks under "what you get: Join the VIFP Club | Perks & Rewards | Carnival Cruise Line ) Of course by the time you sail, things may be back to normal and you'll get all this in your cabin.

I am a gold. I don't really pay attention to the vifp cards till I board.

Because we reached Gold on the last day of our cruise in 2016, we were Gold on embarkation day. Unless they changed it, I’m guessing you will be as well.
