update infomation on the cruise ship hits pier structure in key west

Any update on weather we'll be able to dock on Key West port, due to the Silversea ship "Silver Spirit" accident on Dec. 6, 2018? Thank you in advance, I'm cruising on Carnival Dream on Jan. 13, 2019.

I thought it was rather strange that the entire pier was unusable due to a "mooring dolphin" being damaged. Usually they can find other bollards on which to attach bow or stern lines. But I guess that was not a simple mooring dolphin but a "breasting dolphin" which is necessary for the ship to berth next to. Apparently it is going to take a few months to drive pile and pour concrete for a new one.

Don't recall hearing much about it in the news.

Thanks! Sure the scratch will buff out.

I believe they have more 1 or 2 other piers to dock the ships. Otherwise your itinerary would be changed online if they were unable to dock. Have a wonderful cruise! Happy

All the articles I have been able to find, indicate it will take 3 months to repair the pier. Here is one of the several links to the information:

This is a good indication of what can happen in high winds. Sometimes missing a port isn't so bad when you see what can happen,

Does it affect all cruise lines?
