Transportation fromHeathrow to Southhampton

Hi I'm still a couple years out from cruising England so in the planning stage and trying to set up the budget. So what is the best way to get from Heathrow to Southhampton. We'll be flying a day ahead of time and planning on staying the night in Southhampton.

Thank you

Thank you everyone. But at this time we decided that for us to enjoy our trip we really need at least four weeks in which to do this.Along with the cruise we'd like to spend time exploring England and Scotland (hubs is of Scottish descent and would like to do some digging into his family tree). So until we retire we're putting this on hold. Again Thank you for all the input.

Seems a bit early to be planning details, lots can change. Have taken several Princess cruises from Southampton. Have always used their bus transfer from Heathrow to Southampton, very convenient, you will get there in time for boarding. This assumes you are travelling to Southampton on day of cruise. You could use this transfer for the return trip as well. I think the cost was about 5USD, no reason to spend more. Recently used Heathrow Gatwick Cars Southampton to London (the Strand, not the airport) approx 155 Lbs.

Oh, and book early. There are not a lot of hires available and they tend to get busy. Remember, no Uber or Lyft in Southampton.

There is no direct train service form Heathrow, only from Gatwick so options are more limited. We took the National Express bus service from Heathrow and it was on time, inexpensive and a nice coach. From the terminal in Southampton you will need a taxi. If several people are going a private hire is the way to go. My wife and I took a car hire( Southampton Taxis) on our return to the airport and I believe it was around $150.

please let us know what transportation you use for this. i am looking at a cruise from there in the future.

So we’ve heard. Over and over. Must be those , everybody gets a trophy , type of awards.

Lynn Does that dishy Vicar or dishey Emmett ever come to your candlelight suppers?

Good one AuntPinkie. Lynn we're not going to go until at least mid 2024 just getting ideas so I can work out a budget. Hopefully the strike stuff will be settled by then, but if not you cantake us to the port. Yummy

Does this mean you are offering transportation for Cynthe?

[quote=Cynthe] So my question is any suggestions for transportation from Heathrow to South Hampton?

Was going to suggest getting the train. But with the UK economy in freefall, and almost every sector on strike at the moment, I cannot recommend.

Nurses, trains, and almost all modes of public transport, are or will be soon on strike.

Lynn is not on strike
