THIS KEEPS UP, THE NEXT CUTBACKS MAY BE US

The bean counters claim so few people use these options, no body will care...or more precisely, not enough people will care so their complaints can be ignored. We have ALWAYS ordered a pot of coffee and danish early am on the balcony. And turning up late evenings at the buffet for some kind of potluck munchie was an option several times a week on any given cruise. Those brunch options, were always a favorite. They know exactly what they're doing.."Lets just see how little we can give the folks who cruise, and just how much we can charge for it." We have six booked from 10/22 to 1/24, including one on NCL PRIMA, and a few on CCL VISTA. Usually, we're planning ahead enough to get the dates/cabin we want. This is the first time EVER we're not booking anymore UNTIL we get ourselves on board and decide if we're just wasting our $$ on cruising. Now thats an AWFUL attitude to have isn't it?

I feel like CCL has really cut the most out of any line.

RCCL cutbacks have been minimal from what I gather - No booking of entertainment/shows ahead of time

Celebrity - cutbacks on activities staff

NCL - cutback on towel animals, but that had started before COVID

And thats all I really have time to look for right now. LMAO

The market will decide. I'm sure many will start going where they see better value for their money. Impact of staff shortages in terms of service is very noticeable as is the diminished menu selections. Supply chain of people and materials. Increased fuel expenses will also be passed on to guests. We're in for a retraction in the industry if supply chain issues and fuel costs do not see stability.

I'm beginning to see a wave of dissention throughout the cruise forums. If the cruise lines continue, I assure you, this will come back to bite them in the long run.

Many have stated they are done already. More quitters will be coming as they look for better alternatives.

My wife needs 2 cruises to make diamond(her goal)(I have no goal, care less of my status)after that we may cut back cruising a lot. Mess with food mess with me. Dust off the old pop up camper and do some land cruising, deal with our own food. I cook all the time camping, so wife will still be "cruising"

Its not the same as pre-shutdown. Some of the budget saving moves (we don't like) will be kept and it will take competition to bring things back. Recall how airlines went to all those add-ons after 911, like baggage charges, selling aisle seats etc. Those revenue changes are still in place. I think the "selection" reduction in the buffets is noticeable. Just looking at less types of desserts. Of course supply chain issues and staffing is the current excuse - its going to take much longer to rebuild the industry.

My wife mentioned that particularly!....WELL SAID AUNTIE!!...I'm with your husband on this...I can see it coming. Look, if all we wanted to do was go explore some art, or old buildings, or kiss dolphins, we could just FLY...even as bad as it is nowadays. We cruise BECAUSE of the perks and pampering....for which we are willing to pay...to a point...and now, they're going away...........and OGW, respectfully, you can't compare rent, food, gas med services and so on with cruising. Folks who have a problem making ends meet don't "NEED" to be on a cruise, regardless of price.

Well this is the way it is going all over. Right now rents are out of control .. if you can find something available ... food prices are getting ridiculous so long as there is not a shortage and no one wants to work. What you are seeing on the cruise ships with less value and higher charges is just the tip of what is happening across the board. The cruise industry is no different than any other suffering the same woes except it is always singled out and targeted by the non cruisers.

Each time cutbacks are made, those of us that enjoy them feel the loss. I understand that sometimes it helps the cruise line recover. But they may lose more "seasoned" cruisers than they plan. Time will tell. My DH is ready to find another form of vacation. Carnival has been sailing over a year now and should be adding lost services, not cutting them out! I will miss breakfast in the Ocean Plaza (on the ships where available) a great deal. That was one of my favorite things! My "Pollyanna" attitude is taking a hit on this situation.Crying

Well, I'm not so understanding when it comes to writing bigger and bigger checks for less and less. Those perks and indulgences are what makes cruising special.

I wouldn't say awful. Understandable, given the circumstances.
