What do you think? Is this the start of the new cruise requirements? May have to copy and paste the following link to read this article.

I know there will be disagreement with this from some quarters, but there is this entity known as The Government. I could see them mandating only vaccinated passengers before the lines are allowed to sail again. It is my belief that there are backroom negotiations going on between the new administration and the cruise lines, and I could see the Gov't taking the position that among other things the lines require 100% vaccinations prior to them proceeding with the "conditional sail order". I think for this very issue the reason the CDC has been dragging their feet on providing guidance on test cruises, plus the fact that they are waiting for some signals from the new administration as to which way the wind is blowing. Heck, I'll go even further? It would not surprise me if the government is trying to figure out a way to strongarm the cruise lines into re-incorporating in the US, so they would be subject to US tax laws. Think about it. They could never have pulled it off under normal circumstances, but they now have an incredible amount of leverage over the lines. I don't think for one minute they won't try to use it.

Yeh well...I seem to remember trying to read their "proposals" and us debating them in here...clearly the vaccine(s), which didn't exist at the time, are a game changer...whats MISSING is the lines sailing at way less capacity to attempt some sort of social distancing...reading the comments on their own sites and elsewhere proves my suspicion was probably correct...they can't do that, and WON'T do that, and probably never really intended to do that...cruises are still selling out...my .02 about the rubber band effect is probably correct...what, they'll sell out a cruise and tell folks LATER half of you aren't going....or your balcony is now an inside....or stop selling when 1/2 capacity is reached....nah.......

Or, as noted, offer a 30% discount and raise the fare to cover it? In a world full of change, mostly bad, its comforting to see some things NEVER change.....

I guess they are running different scenarios prior to any possible cruising to take place. Gonna be a slow and neccessary process.

I agree that it be hard to regulate things like this.

I'd vote for it 100%...passengers, crew...but its unlikely any of that would affect what happens ashore on tours...hard to keep passengers safe from the locals...AND someone please explain to me just how they're going to social distance anyone at the terminal.....you guys know the zoo that can be....the new definition (and only "proper one") of at risk passengers has nothing to do with age...

Don’t know if it will happen with other lines. Saga is for age 50+ out of the UK, so that may have played into the decision. However, rumor has it that NCL & RCCL are looking into the legalities of this for USA home port sailings. Rumors can be way off.Wink

Yes .. I have a feeling that you will need the vaccine to cruise again.
