As one of the millions of Canadians who were advised to get "the first vaccine available" and are now part of the "mix and match" crowd (AZ / Pfizer) my husband and I will need to get a booster / 3rd shot in order to sail in March 2022. The nurse at my dr's office is convinced that by January the additional shot will be available to anyone looking to travel over the winter months. All I know is that this girl is NOT going to spend another Canadian winter without a little southern sunshine!! Big Smile

Excellent. A little hair o the dawg is just the way to start the day heheheh....Just saw the latest on the MODERNA shot ...the geniuses at the FDA are considering 1/2 dose as a booster...I guess the orig shots were just sooooooo potent...but don't ask me...I don't serve on anybody's school board, so I have no expertise in infectious diseases...not that that stops anybody.....

Just got the booster this morning. I feel great! Quick and easy, wasn't even aware it was done. Went straight home after the observation period, got myself some breakfast, a drink, and back to bed. Currently binge watching "The Wonder Years" (original) on Hulu, since I've never seen it.

I think the whole thing re these booster -third shots is an outright scam....I'm not going to belabor it, or congratulate those who can get them, clearly just by showing up. The Moderna vs Pfiizer thing is a concoction designed to enhance somebody's shareholder value...data data who's got the data???and FAUCI's pronouncements are wearing thin, followed closely by the head of the CDC's babblings....don't bother to look up her name, I just don't care anymore.

So Moderna boasts higher long-term efficacy numbers....who thinks folks at the CDC have more stocks in Pfizer/ BioNTech than Moderna...

May the SEC find every one if them guilty of Insider Trading.

Just got my appointment for my booster next week!

Yes it is very confusing. I have had the Pfizer shots. My twin sons went to Mexico, and had to do the testing (yes they already had their two shots) for the 36 hours (think it might be 24 hours now), before they could board the plane. I'm glad they went through that, so when it comes our time to cruise the first part of January, and we HAVE to go through this additional testing a few hours before, they can point me in the right direction.Happy

Well, we will be in line for the booster once one gets approved. I realize, out of the three vaccines only Pfizer has full approval for the basic vaccine and emergency approval for the booster which is now available for those who have had the first two shots and are over 65.

We have had both Moderna's but neither Moderna nor J & J have full approval for the basic vaccination yet from the FDA. It might take a while for them to okay a booster for Moderna as well, since the jury is still out as to when and if one should have such a booster. Pfizer recommends their booster be taken after about 6 months after the second dose but most experts seem to agree that should be 8 months.

When a Moderna booster is approved it could be even longer than 8 months from the second dose due to the following study----

"Data collected from 18 states between March and August suggest the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine reduces the risk of being hospitalized with COVID-19 by 91% in the first four months after receiving the second dose. Beyond 120 days, however, that vaccine efficacy drops to 77%.

Meanwhile, Moderna’s vaccine was 93% effective at reducing the short-term risk of COVID-19 hospitalization and remained 92% effective after 120 days. Overall, 54% of fully vaccinated Americans have been immunized with the Pfizer shot."

Yeh, I always do the med diagnosis thing in cyber before I wipe anything.....actually, my confusion stems from arranging covid tests b4 our next cruise on top of TDAY...its called an unhealthy dose of reality...at the moment, cruising has lost a bit of its allure....reading what some folks have posted in here and other places isn't good for the psyche either...I can arrange a cruise in 10 minutes (not that I do, it used to be fun organizing and booking one) it took considerably longer than that to satisfy myself we could get tested and board....add to that endless streams of BS about who can get a booster, and why, and when, and which....

Yankee: I think that perhaps your "confusion over the booster" may actually be one of the symptoms of covid. Better get it checked out before you make any further plans. Nervous
