Royal to discontinue Dynamic Dining on Anthem

http://cruisefever.net/0911-royal-caribbean-discontinuing-dynamic-dining/

So sounds like they listened to their cruisers and gave what they wanted. Now I've never had the chance to experience the dynamic dining, but a common sore spot on a lot of the reviews were the dynamic dining...

Opinions, thoughts?

I guess if the reaction of passengers was negative, they were right to change it.

Don't take my word for it -- I haven't looked at it too closely and I could be wrongBig Smile

When I read it though, I too though it sounded like Disney's plan.

Ahh, that's different than I understood. Thanks for clarifying. It sounds kind of like what Disney does.

The way I understood it was that if you sign up for it, your dinner is always at the same time, with the same wait staff, but in a different venue each night (no reservations needed to be made). If that were the way it was, I might like to try it.

I would not like having to make reservations for each meal. We do Your Time Dining on Carnival, but don't have to make reservations. We just show up when we are ready to eat. So far our waits have been minimal, but we generally go early and beat the rush.

It was not just the dynamic dining that changed they also said there will be 1 formal night each cruise.

I like assigned seating, on vacation I do not want to be bothered to make reservations in advance for what time I want to eat or where. I like the same staff and table mates to get to know over the week or two of the cruise.

I'm glad they listened to their customers.

This is what the description said:

Dining is a new take on the main dining room, reimagined to give you a culinary experience at sea as vast, varied and eye-opening as dining in the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. Discover the culinary curiosities of Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine. Savor the handcrafted fare and craft beers of Michael’s Genuine® Pub. Experience it all with our signature personal service as we elevate the concept of dining at sea. When Anthem launches this April, you can choose one of two different ways to experience Dynamic Dining.

Dynamic Dining Choice gives you the freedom to pick and choose your restaurants and dining times each day and night. Our unique venues feature menus that change throughout the cruise, with guest favorites and new specialty dishes to ensure everyone at the table will find something they love.

Dynamic Dining Classic is a new option for those who prefer the traditional main dining style with the same dining time each night, with the same wait staff and dining companions throughout the cruise. Dynamic Dining Classic is available on a first come, first serve basis.

I wasn't familiar with Dynamic Dining. I read the the article...still not sure what it is/was. Anyway, if it was such a sore spot for customers then I think it's great that RCL is discontinuing.
