Royal Caribbean applies for face mask trademark

What do we think about this?

It says "the application for the sanitary masks for virus isolation purposes" - I'm not sure if this means it would be for someone that came down with an illness onboard? Or for the other passengers? Or maybe for crew who care for them?

I would see the masks to be set out like clean towels everyday. You can not wear the same one for a 7 day cruise. The first one given to you as soon as you show at the port.

If the mask is "Anti-virus" then it would have to be like a N95 mask. I could see the cruise lines them selling them on a web page for general public to buy and wear since it looks like masc's will be around for a while.

You will have to remove it when you get on the ship after port days for security to check your picture that you are you. I could see them holding people back 6 feet as you get checked back on and a Plexiglas divider between guest and security for check in.

With an optional ($$) food slot...yukyuk...

Hmm think about the savings at the buffet if everyone has to wear a mask ....

Sooooo….you get Corona, and they move you out of your balcony suite into a box down by medical......most ships we've been on have the medical "offices" in an out of the way place..unlikely they'd use "real" saleable space for this...

There was a story on cruise radio news about a couple of lines NCL and RCL looking at adding a number of "isolation suites" as part of the medical areas. They could be used to isolate guests in case of breakouts.

Great cynical minds thinking alike again I see...…...Life jackets are one thing, the drill is a joke on most ships, and the chances of actually needing them are not zero, but as close to it as you can get...catching the virus on board is....well....some what greater (and leave it at that)...some genius up on mahogany row must think that providing "masks" with a LOGO on em is some kind of advertisement for how much they care is somewhat disingenuous. I think its just a grand idea...ranks right up there with health forms for seniors. HMMMMMM...….

This sounds like CYA to me! "The passengers has access to the face masks, we can make them wear them..."

HMMMM,,, a cynical mind might think you have to wear them on board...AND pay for them....nah!

Guess they will put these masks in the closets with the life jackets.

Interesting concept. I would suspect the patent would not be so much on the design but more on the look and name.
