Queen Mary 2 is showing her age !

In response to review, DougSmith362 says ...

I honestly don't know what some people class as "Luxury". Their expectations must be SO HIGH, that nothing is ever to their expectations. Having been onboard Queen Mary 2, and infact, all 3 Cunard "Queens", I have to say that everything that people have said, just does not add up. Queen Mary 2 - and, come to think of it, her 2 "Sisters" - way surpassed my expectations when I went onboard her, and when I cruised on her. The buffet restaurant is one place that I WOULD recommend to go for something to eat, along with Todd English Restaurant and the Golden Lion Pub. In fact, I found that all the restaurants onboard were superb, and the food was FANTASTIC!. The staterooms were immaculate, with everything in place... so much so that, you would have thought that everything was brand new. I must also say that the staff were absolutely fantastic and very smart indeed. NOTHING was too much trouble... especially when it came to assisting guests with disabilities to/from the ship at the ports of call. My Stateroom Steward was, again, extremely friendly and helpful, and if I required any assistance, he was more than happy to assist. The shows in the main theatre were, as expected, typical West End or Broadway style shows, with very professional cast. Also in the main theatre, the talks were exceptionally done by experts in their own fields. Overall, I would give Cunard a 5* rating, as my times onboard have been nothing short of exemplary!!! GO CUNARD!!!

Your followup is greatly appreciated. Every ship will have an "off" cruise, which unfortunately seems to be the one you were on. The fact that you went the extra mile to find out why, and then amend your review, is terrific.

Thank you for posting your review. You provided your honest opinion of the experience and I appreciate that you provided an amendment as to contributing circumstances. Hopefully you next cruise is a fabulous experience all around.

As a follow-up: My research has uncovered the fact that over half of the ships crew "turned-over" just prior to our sailing and were not fully experienced with the ship and each other. There were other extenuating circumstances, Prince Phillip's visit for one but perhaps it is time for a refurbishment.

Sorry to read that you had multiple complaints about the ship. Perhaps the ship is due for a refirbushment?
