Online Passport Renewal Seems to be Extra Slow

Hi,

I decided to try renewing my passport online for the sake of convenience, and mailing stuff today makes me nervous. Has anyone else tried this? It has been in the "Recieved" status for two weeks now. That does not count the 6 to 9 week processing time once it's in review status. I'm regretting going this route. It seems to be taking longer than sending in an application by mail. Anyone else have experince with renewing online? I don't want to book a cruise until I'm certain I'll have the passport back. I'm curious to hear about others' experiences with renewing online.

Thanks!

I will definitely keep everyone posted. It's been two weeks in Received status so far.

Hesitant to post re something we haven't actually done, but I too was curious. Started looking at the passport renewal process, both on line and the "old-fashioned way"...Had no idea of the swamp i was getting into..the online process only started with a so-called "pilot project" 10/22...and accepted only 25k applicants...apparently that got blown away in days...now, its apparently live, but every site I went to, gov't and non-gov't alike, were just chock full of disclaimers about how long it takes, problems tracking the renewal process and so on...one even mentioned that you should allow "at least" two weeks in the received status for anything to happen..not encouraging, I know...and then theres the one that says even after its been approved, it can take ADDITIONAL 2-3 weeks to actually "mail" it to you, assuming you did it that way. Fortunately we've got a ways to go b4 we have to deal with it, but, I think I'll pay the extra fee and do it snail mail..,,,bet alot of folks would like to hear how it goes with you...please let us know...many many folks read this stuff and never post............GOOD LUCK!!

We've only done our driver's liscenses on line. However, we are interested in your experience. Please keep us posted as things develope. We can learn through your experience. Sorry that isn't helpful for you.
