This sounds like it may be a viable option. Think of it like huge apartment buildings ... except horizontal instead of vertical ... and on the water. Hmm ...

Just saw this one..don't know how I missed it..Interesting, yes...but there's a whole bunch of "what if's" built into this...not that I would do it. As much as we like(d) to cruise, when its over its over...
The concept is not new, has been around for a while. I like the idea, but certain assurances have to be written into the agreement.
Interesting idea though. looking forward to hearing more.
Being an avid HAL fan, I could likely get onboard (pun intended) with this. Surely much more feasible than the purchase condo ship.
With over inflated Covid real estate values still in play, maybe I lease out my "land" home and live on this for a while. By the time I'm tired of it or the lease renewal becomes impractical, real estate rates may return to relatively normal rates and I can boot out the tenants and go back home.
Jusssssst out of reach.
Maybe if I go back to work for another decade or so.
Very interesting. I've seen a couple of others like this. However, there is a notable "buy-in" for your sea condo. There a few social media folks who are almost residents on ships, but still just "super passengers". Hopping ships as itineraries and ports change. It can be an affordable way to live when you're still healthy/active, but you still need to maintain a small place to serve as a residence of record (or use a relative's address). Almost like living in an RV, but you go more places, you don't have to drive, food and entertainment included.
Thats our retirement plan (living in an RV) but could easily adopt to permanent cruise life

A couple of old HAL ships last refurbished in 2015, 2016. My wife looked at some of the details and pricing and it is quite interesting. Will be something to watch and see how it goes.
I have told my DH that this is my "retirement" plan. He says it will have to be after he dies!
Actually, it looks interesting.
