Interesting new changes coming to a ship near you

So my wife just found and sent me this article. I found it both interesting and fascinating. But it also makes me wonder. As great as this sounds it also has the potential to become "Big Brother". The avant-garde will love this but the paranoid will not be happy. I hope this works as I can see much benefit with this.

Sorry to hear that Glo. To book for that reason and then find out after the fact that it is a limited test group :( ... not nice Hope she enjoys the cruise anyway

My sister will be on the Princess ship for its maiden run with the Ocean Medallion. Unfortunately, she booked this cruise to experience this and has now been told that she will not be part of the program. Only certain cabins will be. Crying Even Carnival is also going to ease into the technology, also. It does make sense to do it slowly to work out any kinks in it.

nah....

I will give you credit because it does sound like a Cromp tale.

I think I can have some fun with this, like attaching it to string and lowering it over the side of the ship in various places.

It is going to be great. I have been to walt disney world using the magic bands and it is a great invention. Makes getting around the crowds easier and you can plan all activities at home before you get there. Change mind? No problem. We really love it. Can't wait till cruise lines brings this into service

Not up to your standardsBig Smile

Actually, the device offers the customer a way to receive a more custom tailored experience as well as more convenience. Rather than having to swipe your card to unlock your cabin door, you just need to approach it. When making a purchase onboard, or leaving or boarding the ship, you just need to stand there -- you don't need to fumble with your card. If you do a little bit of setting the program up, you will be presented with information that is pertinent to you.

The only information stored on and transmitted by the device is your file number (not folio number). That number is matched by the computer networks to your file which has all your information (as it does now). Should someone get your device, they would not have access to any personal information.

It may not be the best there is, and as I said it doesn't make any difference to me, but at least Princess is trying to improve the customer experience rather than just staying the way they are.

They will certainly know where you are and when you are there. This might be good for quicker reactions for an over board .... but then maybe not. The jury is out on this one for now

Did I write this article ?

To me, it doesn't really make a difference. With all the cameras on board, you can be sure that "they" know your exact location at all times.

It sure sounds interesting. I'll be reading the reviews of the medallion for sure.
