I am aware that it is a $20 charge which included 2 vodka's but can anybody advise what it is like and is it worth it?

Ice bar on Norwegian Epic

Yep .. been there .. looked at the door .. said .. why ...
We were on Breakaway last February, but did not feel the need to try it. I am a beer drinker and that probably would not work under those conditions. Plus, we live in N. WI and they got 40" of snow while we were on the cruise. We could have stayed home and been cold instead.
Going to try it once on the Breakaway ... to document the experience for my Instagram
What does it take for the beancounters to realize it aint worth the beans? Then they'd have to refurb the thing...they could replace it and the "lunch counter" smoky noisy noodle bar with a real Chinese restaurant...included...or even with a fee...(I'll deny saying that)..
If I were in Canada, Sweden, or a land-based location I think going to an ice bar would be worth it. From what a family member shared with me about their personal experience on NCL, it was not worth the surcharge. This is a "cutesy" gimmick by the cruise lines to create and maintain another revenue stream. No regrets at having tried it ONCE, but will not do it again.
Agree, a one time event.
Interesting the responses, even from a few years ago, So far we've been on BREAKAWAY twice, and neither time have we even considered the "ice bar"....passed by it many times...didn't look like it was all that popular either. Not interested in "free drinks" since we always get the package anyway.
We were on the Epic and it isn't up to par with the one in Vegas; much smaller and not crowded. Fun to do it once but only if you have a good group with you willing to hang out and a bit tipsy to start. The whole jacket & gloves routine is interesting. Be much more entertaining if it had a club vibe as opposed to a lounge vibe.

I know I responded to this earlier. Another one lost in the miasma I guess.
anyway, friends we were with on the Breakaway went and said it wasn't worth the effort. You only stay about a half hour. We've been on the Breakaway twice and have yet to go into the Ice Bar. Try the sushi place instead. It's excellent.
We were in a ice bar in Stockholm, Sweden on a shore excursion about 13 months ago. Is that the same kind of Ice Bar they have on a ship now? It was solid ice, seats, bar, tables, even the glasses were solid ice with a hole drilled in them for the drink. Wouldn't surprise me if it is, after all they are putting ice rinks, climbing walls, etc on some ships now.
