We discussed this a couple months ago when DCL announced they were going back to the old style drills. At that time I stated "as uncomfortable as they are, I believe they (old style drills) instill a small sense of seriousness and community into most people that may (just may) help some of them pull together in the event of an actual emergency. I don't think we're getting that with the new methods."

I still believe that, and since one of the "big three" decided to go back I'm sure the others will follow (unless I missed the news that they already have).

Sadly, you are probably correct. But, I really have enjoyed the easy muster!

In all seriousness, I agree with you. We all seemed to acknowledge how patently useless the "new way" really was, altho obviously it was a great time and aggravation saver...on the other hand, think of the entertainment value of going back to the old ways...and how much fun we were missing....my question is, depending on the ship I guess, are folks mustering up on deck, or in other venues? my vote is up on deck, and everything that entails...in for a penny, in for a pound...

Not surprised. With the staffing reductions they need to better utilize staff on embarkation day. Rather then have 2 or 3 staff hanging in each muster area all day they can close the bars and use the bar staff for the muster drills for an hour. Less staffing required.
