Thought I'd put this up separately...I know theres a bunch of folks in here who KNOW (through experience) just how slooooooow this process can be...when it comes time to renew ours, (do the years REALLY pass that quickly?) we get the pics done "officially"...send em the extra $$ and hope for the best....

1. My wife and I must be very lucky. we sent in passports for renewal mid March and (expedited) and just received our new passports in less than 4 weeks! This is not the likely normal scenario but we'll take it. Next trip out of the country is to Iceland at the end of June.

2. Most countries require 6 months validity on passport to enter. More often than not when leaving the US for foreign country you will not be allowed on flight if passport expiration date is < 6 months

Appreciate the update.

Last week a passport agency in Arlington TX would not schedule an appointment to renew - said we had to complete and mail in a blue form (DS82). Only appointments for new applications can be made online and currently nothing can be fully completed online as of a few weeks ago.

So, I'll use Privateer43's 9 week 5 day as the benchmark...

Wonderful! Thanks for the update!

CONGRATULATIONS!! and thanks for the update.

Update: Our fourth and final one arrived today, 9 weeks and 5 days from application. We were pleasantly surprised.

Good for you!

Our last renewal was early 2020 and we applied on line and had the new passports in hand within 4 weeks. and it is good for 10 years before needing to do that again.

Thats a stopper!! so how long does it usually take YOU to renew? certainly hope its not as long as "down here"....

Being close to the border in the great white north you get used to hopping the border for a number of things from shopping, to vacations, to visits, to restaurants not available this side of the border. In days gone by we would we would usually cross the border 8 - 10 times a year so for us it is always something that we think of.

Very interesting...AND IMPORTANT! never thought about traveling from Canada TO the US...for ANY purpose....
