Well..theres that old saw that "perception IS reality"......or, how about "you can't fix stupid"......???

Yep, they're great at posing for holy pictures. But lest we forget, we're the ones who put them there, and then they just "stock the shelves" with more of their ilk, because they can.

Those aren't "people"...they're politicians...and deserve every criticism they get....double talk and bs is their stock in trade....those who serve with honor and integrity are few and far between...and usually wind up being criticized even by their own party...either way....something happens when they get elected...after a while, they realize the only important thing is to stay in office...no matter what they have to say to do it...or raise money....this is clearly not a political forum...but unfortunately it becomes one occasionally, since it ought to be obvious that behind the scenes political intrigue is whats keeping us from cruising...and now, political intrigue might enable us to cruise...

Interesting

I'm not certain what the Texas Gov. is up too, but looks like he is no dif. than both Ron DeSantis (Fl) and Mike Dunleavy (Ak) who are both out of touch with reality. Neither seem to listen to what hard core cruising guests want and that is 86% of them want everybody on the vessel to be fully vaccinated.

The Florida Governor blabs about the CDC restraining cruise business, but at the same time, passes his own State policy and executive order that enterprises can't do business in his State if they require vaccinations for customers------ Interesting indeed, that De Santis's political buddy, multi-millionaire Frank Del Rio, says Norwegian, Regent and Oceania require all to be vaccinated and the same goes for their crew at least two weeks before crew members board the vessel. One would think DeSantis has painted himself into a corner but the guy is really good about talking out of both sides his mouth, stay tuned for his next lie.

In the case of Alaska's Dunleavy, he is just gutless and stupid when it comes to this subject. He ignores the fact that no cruise ships of any significance are going to sail north until the Canadians allow cruise ships into their ports and weasel-words every pertinent statement so nobody, including himself, knows where he stands on vaccination issues. And if that isn't bad enough, he joins Florida in suing the CDC for not letting cruise ships into Alaska---Go figure.

Well...I personally think you're around second heading for third...but...I seriously doubt any of us "great unwashed" will ever really know...unless someone writes a memoir in a few years, but by then, who cares...just get me on a ship!!!

News article is from 6 April 2021. I wonder if the "newsman" read the entire bill or just someone's synopsis?

As far as the CDC and the apparent reversal, I am wondering if the CDC head got slapped down from her whining about blocking cruises to "protect her family" instead of a decent reason. I also wonder if the head of the Maritime Unit is a potential scape goat if something goes wrong......hope not, I like what she put out compared to what the big bosses were 'doing'.

Too true my friend ... too true

Thats exactly what I was getting at BD...but you nailed it...want to "enforce" your power, without a legal basis to do so?...yank Customs, and not even freight can move. But, the chances of that happening aren't slim to nil, they're just nil. The effect of some kind of internal war between the port states and cruise lines and their ancillary businesses, AND the FED won't play well ANYWHERE....I still don't understand the selection of some "unknown" mid-level apparatchnik from an unknown dept within the CDC to suddenly go public with a 180. Its making me smile thats for sure........

The Fed has been pretty actively telling people what to do up until now. All they have to do is pull Customs out and then no ship can land or depart. If the Fed wants to see shot cards, then they will be able to ask for them, regardless of any State legislation.

Hopefully, though, the Fed has realized their mistake and are ready to rectify it.
