Cruise Calendar for Holiday Gift

Just finished putting together a calendar for 2017 that features all the destinations I have been to when cruising. Most of my friends tease me profusely about how much I cruise but love seeing the photos, so guess what they're getting .... Might be a gift suggestion for some of you who have taken family cruises or cruises with friends ....

I know my friends will enjoy it because it includes everyone's birthdays anniversaries and each month's Bunco game date and time printed and will save everyone from writing it down at our annual meeting. (There are no personal photos of me) My friends are always happy for each other regardless of what it is ... we cheer each other on in any endeavor and in my case, they are thrilled to have me see beauty in the world again instead of the dark hole I lived in for too many years.

It sounds like a great idea for our own home. Not sure if my friends would really enjoy seeing my photos though on a calendar. But I must admit that many of them have asked me to give a presentation in our clubhouse after my World Cruise. I do feel funny about doing that since many people can't afford such a trip. If the photos were just scenic photos I guess that it would be a good idea. I think that I'll ask around and see what my neighbors say. I'll bet that they might like it.

You're right, they do. And in January I can get one for a dollar at Dollar Tree. My point was, they may not want to see your personal vacation photos, while they have to remember a week with Aunt Sarah and a dozen other noisy relatives up in ice cold Erie, Pa. It's fine to keep one on your desk at work. It's your souvenir and all. And I'm sure no one here would mind it, as we are all cruisers and can identify with the locales.

I personally wouldn't want a calendar showing photos of a friend's vacation. It seems like bragging to me, just like some of the Christmas letters you get from people updating you with everything they have done or accomplished over the year. Just my opinion.

This may come as a surprise to you but a lot of people enjoy photos of oceans, beaches, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers, fall colors, sunrise sunset whether they've been there or not! And quite frankly, if Simon made a calendar featuring members' photos of beautiful scenery, I would probably buy it....

Sooooooooo, you're going to give people a calendar showing them where YOU have been all year ? Order a bunch for 2018. Send them to Simon so he can give one to us on the CL.com cruise ( assuming there is a goodie bag of some sort ) I think I'll stick to my ASPCA calendar with all the cute animals for 2017 though.

Sounds like it would work well for you and your friends. I'm not sure if it would go over with all our family members; not everyone's circumstances allow them to travel much. While they are happy we still can, we would not want any of them to feel as if we are humble-bragging about our trips. What we have been doing is bringing back little things from our trips and giving those as gifts (e.g., scarves, earrings, coffee beans). This year, every gift is something we picked up in Guatemala... though the coffee did not quite make it since we LOVE great coffee, we already consumed it.

Great gift idea. It might spur some of the non-cruisers.

That's really sentimental and a wonderful gesture. Like meghad, I only cruise 1-2 times a year, however it's a great idea.

I started out making one for myself with scenes, sunsets, etc and got carried away ...I have a scrapbook that I've been keeping for my son and write little notes to him that I hope he will cherish for years to come when I am gone of his days at sea with Mom ...
