Bid for a Haven

I'm looking to bid on the haven courtyard on my upcoming trip but all the rooms are in the front. I've heard the front is not good for getting sea sick. If it's so bad why do they put the expensive rooms up front? I have a midship balcony right now. Should I just keep what I have? Thank you

Really? I wonder why? It worked for us. On a really bad night too. Although, it didn’t work when we travelled on the Poseidon. But then, we weren’t so much rocking back and forth as we were falling floor to ceiling. We’ll never cruise on New Years Eve again. I tell you that cruise was quite the adventure. Big Smile

the getaway is one of two breakaway class ships that hold around up to 4200 passsengers. now i have never stayed in the Haven but i have visited it a few times. What i can tell you is that the inside cabins are relatively inexpensive and quite nice. the entertainment is the same for all guests. Million Dollar Quartet is one of the finest shows on the Seas with a great storyline. If you happen to get the cast members who really have the talent to be one of the 4 performers of past...you really will be amazed. i happened to go one night and 2 days later two of the cast members had been replaced by newbies. they move these around toi other ships as they get better and better at there performer they are replicating. the new performers did not pull it off completely but i will still say the music and storyline is a real fun one. Please stay in the lower part of the ship we need you there, you can mingle with us and you will save probably $1000 a day. i paid $650 for 10 day cruise plus gratuities and port fees. I stayed on the ship for 30 days or three cruises and had the time of my life. One thing i really like is that i get the same service wherever i go on the ship regardless of what cabin i purchased. Stay with us and cruise more often. Okay i understand you would like a more personal cruise with just a few people around the pool deck. I understand totally what type of vacation you prefer and We below thank you for bringing the prices down for us on the ship. Thanks for Cruising NCL. See you at Sea!!

Tried that when you suggested it years ago on “Funville”. It doesn’t work.Crying

Here is my big hint for fighting sea sickness at night in your bed. Turn your body 90 deg. Sleep across the bed. This way instead of rocking side to side, you rock head to toe.

I have never gotten seasick evem when cruising during winter storms. I have been on a Cunard luxury liner many years ago that ship at one point was practically sailing on its side for about 9-hours.

With that said, I recommend a cabin at the AFT of the ship mid-way between suite and cabin floors.

What NCL ship will you be sailing the HEAVEN on?

I agree with drboiler that the weather is a big factor. All modern cruise ships have stabilizers to compensate for the weather which helps a bit.

I sailed on the Getaway in late January to early February out of NYC this year. We had an aft facing balcony but have sailed on the Getaway twice before in forward balconies. We didn't have any problems in any of the cabins. The ship is one of NCL's larger ones - about 4200 passengers. It was refurbished in 2020, I think. The outdoor waterfront area on decks 6,7 & 8 is nice. There is outdoor dining out there for some of the specialty restaurants. The food in restaurants is good; the specialty restaurants are better. There is an adults only area aft on an upper deck (Spice H2O) with a sun deck, water feature and a bar. At night there are parties up there. But if you are in a Haven cabin, you will have your own pool, sundeck and restaurant. Cagny's and LeBistro specialty restaurants are excellent . The best drinks were at the Prime Meridian bar by Cagny's restaurant. There is a cigar lounge, if you smoke them. There’s a Starbucks in the Atrium. We found the bar service to be a little slow sometimes; I think they have less crew now. Cabin service is only once a day. No nightly turn down service; although could be different in Haven cabins. On bad weather days when outside is off limits, it can be difficult to find a place inside to go and sit. Overall, It's a nice ship. We like it. Enjoy your cruise.

Thank you. We are going on the Norwegian Gateaway cruise ship. Do you have any experience open this ship or similar? I am looking at the Haven 2 bedroom and it is located in the Haven area. I appreciate all your feedback. Thank you so much!
