Bad coffee on board

If you’re like me and hate that liquid coffee in the buffet urns, I may have found something. Trader Joe’s has an instant coffee in individual servings. 10 per box. Just a couple of $$. Comes with milk and sugar in the mix. As instants go it’s pretty good, better than the coffee at the buffet. Just mix with hot water.

Amazon carries it, 2 boxes for $10

I am ok with the buffet coffee. Not much different than what many basic restaurants serve and am definitely not a fan of fake milk or powdered or artificial creamers.

My DH is fond of saying "there are no solutions only trade offs". Some days the buffet coffee is fine and others it is undrinkable. I asked our waiter in the dining room, why the dining room coffee was so much better. He smiled and said "because I made it" (cheeky fellow). It was a good answer, even if it wasn't true.Wink

My wife agrees with your husband.

I agree I don’t care for the liquid coffee in some buffets. I find the buffet coffee on some ships is undrinkable, others it’s not so bad. I do however always have the instant coffee with me. I had Starbucks in the past. Now I carry the instant from Black Rifle Coffee Company.

I have been toying with the idea of starting to carry a small French press.

We carry the flavored creamer pods, yes i know We are whimpy flavored coffee drinkers. Score some resses pb flavored creamers at dollar General for one cruise.

Its bad because they don't clean the urns sufficiently. Not only the urns but the carafes used in the dining venues. We use to have coffee delivered to the room. Noticed a bad taste and looked in the carafe. It had years of coffee deposits on the inside. Hot enough to kill the germs, but killed the flavor. So from now on,I'll only drink the freshly brewed coffee dispensed by the cup at the barista station.

That's one solution! I am surprised that passes the CDC inspections.

I usually deal with it, but this next one, I plan on taking some instant packs with me. I usually take the Starbucks ones to the track when we are in the RV but I might try the once mentioned here as an alternative. I love coffee but it wasn't very good on out last cruise, so i just went without and drank my Spark instead.

I have never found any coffee anywhere on the ships as being bad.
