No very happy with Cunard, they have cancelled the cruise for this May after we have all paid in full with less than 100 days to go and giving us at least 60 days to get our money back. This was going to be a 40th reunion and i doubt very much that at this late notice we can get an alternative venue.
I really thought the time of cancelled cruises was now over, i now wonder if my booked cruise for August will go ahead, currently loosing my faith in cruise lines....
Queen Victoria cruises that were due to start from Southampton until June now, so all those before that have been cancelled.
Which cruise has been cancelled by Cunard.

I suspected as much, given your hint re the "date". Isn't it amazing how time passes and even the certifiably ugly occurances can become funny.... well...sort of...and to understand them properly, you have to be in an exclusive club...yep...awesome fireworks.....expensive too...in more ways than one.

Then as one combat vet to another....................stuff happens...........I can't put it the right way but I'm sure you know what the right word is.....it never ends...at least not aboveground anyways....I have no suggestion as to what to do in lieu of that cruise....merely trying again won't do, for all kinds of reasons....fwiw, that's why I've avoided reunions all these years...frankly I've found them to be depressing..one thought though....mebbe you can organize another one with a handful of the boys who are able to make it...not as grand a deal as you had, but it might be something....good luck!!!

The reason that this reunion is so special to us is that we were all on the same ship that go sunk in the south atlantic and the next big year (50th) there is likely to be quite a few less able to attend.
I know i will get over this but this could have been avoided as the cruise line knew about this quite a while ago (the fact the ship was staying away).

My sympathies...I understand it wasn't just any ol cruise either...all I can say is that if thats the worst thing that ever happens to you...well...............and fwiw, past couple years, I've trained myself to hope for the best, plan for the worst....most of it is beyond our control anyway....
Sorry man ... but the cruise lines are just doing what they have to in order to get by. Cunard had that incident over the holidays where they aborted that cruise in the Caribbean. I suspect they do not want a repeat performance so are taking less chances.
