Carnival Venezia Officially Part of Carnival Cruise Line Fleet
Today, Carnival Venezia officially joined the Carnival Cruise Line fleet transitioning over from sister line Costa Cruises.
The handover was completed in Cadiz, Spain as Costa Captain Tihomir Muzic handed over the ship to Carnival Captain Claudio Cupisti, with leadership team members from both lines in attendance.
“We are so pleased to welcome Carnival Venezia to the fleet, which following a dry dock, will debut as our first ‘Fun Italian Style’ ship this May,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “A big thank you to everyone from our sister line Costa and all those within the Carnival family who will work to add the Carnival touches to this ship over the next two months.”
Following a two-month dry dock, guests will be welcomed on Carnival Veneiza to experience its unique blend of Italian-inspired designs with Carnival Cruise Line staple venues. The ship will feature an atrium modeled after the Piazza San Marco in Venice, and a Lido deck inspired by the Italian Riviera.
Carnival Venezia will offer new Italian-inspired entertainment spaces, such as the Gondola Lounge (designed after Venetian canals) and the Carnevale Bar & Lounge (inspired by Venetian masquerades). Guests will enjoy new activity offerings such as an Italian Street Party, the Captain’s Venetian Toast, and Italian-inspired kids and teens programs. Additionally, the ship will offer a number of signature Carnival Cruise Line onboard activity offerings like Carnival Waterworks, Piano Bar 88, Cloud 9 Salon & Spa, the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat, and the Dr. Seuss Bookville.
The ship will also introduce many new food and beverage offerings. Highlights will include the La Strada Grill (serving classic Italian street food), Tomodoro (Mexitalian fusion restaurant), Amari (similar to the Alchemy Bar), and Frizzante, (serving bubbly drinks, Italian beer, and coffee). Carnival fan-favorite eateries Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi & Teppanyaki, and Guy’s Burger Joint will also be available on Carnival Venezia.
