New Ships Debuting in 2022
Ahhhh, that new ship smell. The past two years have left cruise ships docked or floating at sea. Even new ships that would usually launch to a great deal of fanfare and press coverage barely made a splash. However, in 2022, there will be a lot of new ships sailing high seas. Given the pent-up demand and cruisers’ love of new ships, these fresh additions to the fleets are sure to be a welcome sight. Additionally, these ships will be in high demand for bragging rights by those who want to be amongst the first to sail.

Carnival Cruise Line - Carnival Celebration
The sister ship to the highly acclaimed Mardi Gras and the second ship to carry the name Carnival Celebration debuts to celebrate Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th Anniversary. Sailing year-round from Miami, Carnival Celebration will offer a variety of Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean sailings ranging from five to eight nights.

Disney Cruise Line - Disney Wish
Launching in the Summer, Disney Wish elevates the family vacation experience with three all-new family restaurants, including the world’s first Frozen-themed, theatrical dining. Being immersed in the magical world of Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars are brought to life throughout the ship with character meet and greets, spectacular shows, and interactive dining. Need an adults-only evening? There are plenty of options from sophisticated dining to upscale lounges and a serene pool area for adults to relax and enjoy sans kids.

MSC Seascape, the sister ship to the MSC Seashore, is part of the Seaside Class of ships and is expected to continue the tradition of connecting guests to the sea with innovative designs. Not many details have been released at this time, but expect a multitude of choices for dining, activities, bars, lounges, and entertainment.

Debuting a new class of ships, World Class, the MSC World Europa is truly a cutting-edge vessel setting a new standard in cruising with breakthrough green technology and powered by LNG, one of the cleanest marine fuels. The innovative and ultra-modern vessel will feature a unique exterior design and a Y-shaped aft which opens into a 295’ long promenade bringing the sea views inside. The ship will spend her inaugural voyages based in the middle east, sailing a variety of three to nine nights. In March 2023, MSC World Europa repositions to the Mediterranean to homeport in several cities.

Norwegian Cruise Line - Norwegian Prima
Norwegian Prima is the first in a new series of six ships ordered by Norwegian Cruise Line. The ship features wide open spaces and lots of deck space to get closer to the sea. In addition, the ship will feature new areas such as Ocean Boulevard, home to several dining venues with indoor and outdoor seating. Another new space, Indulge Food Hall, reimages dining with 11 venues, including Coco’s, Q Texas Smokehouse, Starbucks, Seaside Rotisserie, Nudls, Tamara, The Latin Quarter, Tapas Food Truck, Garden Kitchen, Just Deserts, and Just Ice Cream. Norwegian Prima is sure to be a crowd-pleaser with so many options and new spaces.

Setting the bar even higher, Royal Caribbean launches the World’s Largest Cruise Ship, Wonder of the Seas, in March 2022. This mega-ship is sure to bring jaw-dropping excitement and entertainment. Viking Mars, the new intimate, all-balcony ship from Viking Ocean Cruises, sets sail its inaugural year with a series of European voyages for 8 to 29 nights before heading to India and Bangkok with its final destination down under. Winter 2022 into 2023, the Viking Mars will be doing a series of voyages between Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia.

Virgin takes things a step further with all 20+ restaurants onboard, including no assigned dining times and no buffets. Each of the themed eateries has its own kitchen and chef, ensuring everything is fresh, made to order, and never mass-produced.
