Cruise Line Loyalty Programs: Everything You Need to Know

You don’t have to have sailed on a dozen cruises to enroll in a cruise line loyalty program. All of the lines allow customers to become members either before or after their first sailing and start earning points right away. Sign up, and you’ll receive extras like complimentary Internet access and laundry services, just for booking multiple cruises with the same line. So what exactly do you get, and when? Following is a rundown of all cruise line loyalty programs. 

Azamara

Program: Azamara Circle Loyalty Program

Sign Up/How it Works: Enroll online or by phone after you book your first cruise. Points are based on the type of stateroom you book and the length of the cruise. 

Points are earned at this rate: 2 points for an interior, 3 points for oceanview staterooms, 5 points for a veranda, 8 points for a suite, and 18 points for a Club Spa, Club Ocean, or Club World Owner suite. Note, points are given for the stateroom type booked, not upgrade eligible. Double points are awarded for single travelers. 

What You Get: All members receive special savings, an onboard loyalty party, and an onboard loyalty host. You can also receive up to 10% off booking your next cruise while onboard and an additional onboard credit.

Program Tiers:

• Adventurer (up to 149 points) - 5% savings and 50% reduced deposit on future cruises if booked onboard, 10% savings on spa treatments, 30 free internet minutes or 20% off booking for the full cruise, and 5% off beverage package. 
• Explorer (150 to 299 points) - 5% savings and 50% reduced deposit on future cruises if booked onboard, the potential to earn two free nights, 60 free internet minutes or 20% off full cruise purchase, one free bag of laundry service, 15% savings on spa treatments, and 10% off beverage package purchase. 
• Discoverer (300 to 749 points) - 7% savings and 50% reduced deposit on future cruises if booked onboard, the potential to earn four free nights, 90 free internet minutes or 20% off full cruise purchase, priority check-in, exclusive onboard get-togethers, 20% savings on spa treatments, and 15% off beverage packages. 
• Discoverer Plus (750 to 2,999 points) - Plus 7% savings and 50% reduced deposit on future cruises if booked onboard, the potential to earn six free nights, 120 free internet minutes, 25% savings on spa treatments, and 20% off beverage packages.
• Discoverer Platinum (3,000+ points) - Plus 10% savings and 50% reduced deposit on future cruises if booked onboard, the potential to earn ten free nights, 150 free internet minutes, and 25% savings on spa and beverage packages.

Carnival Cruise Line

Program: VIFP Club

Sign Up/How it Works: Sign up online anytime - even before you’ve booked your first cruise. Earn 1 point for every day you sail.

Program Tiers:

• Blue - First sailing. Members-only offers and e-newsletter. 
• Red - 2nd sailing to 24 points. Plus free 1 liter bottle of water in the stateroom.
• Gold - 25 to 74 points. One complimentary beverage and gold VIFP pin on each sailing
• Platinum - 75 to 199 points. Plus priority embarkation and debarkation, platinum and diamond VIFP party, complimentary drink, chocolate delight on 5+ day sailings, unique collectible pin, priority spa reservations and tender boarding, $5 arcade credit, VIPF logo gift, priority guest service line, priority dining reservations, and one complimentary wash and fold laundry.

Program: Captain's Club

Sign Up/How it Works: Enroll online before your first cruise. Points are earned per night and are based on the category of stateroom you select. You can also earn Club Points for non-sailing activities through the line’s Power Up Points program. 

Point Categories: Interior and Oceanview get 2, Veranda and Infinite Veranda gets 3, Concierge and Aqua Class get 5, Sky Suite gets 8, Celebrity/Signature/Royal/Horizon Suites get 12, Reflection/Penthouse/Edge Villa suites get 18, and Iconic Suites receive 24. 

Program Tiers:

• Preview - 0 points. Receive access to e-newsletter and special discounts, use of loyalty desk member service center, and earn double points if traveling solo.
• Classic - 2 to 149 points. Includes an exclusive celebration welcome event, a scoop of gelato from the Gelateria, 10% off one internet package, one category upgrade through AquaClass, and 10% off a drink package.

Sign Up/How it Works: Enrolled automatically after the first cruise. Membership level is based on the number of voyages or number of the days sailed.

Program Tiers:

• Gold - 2 voyages or 20 nights. Includes gold membership pin, 45-minute internet credit, and invite to the club cocktail party.

Program: Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club

Sign Up/How it Works: Enrolled automatically after the first cruise. Benefits are based on how many cruises you complete. Perks include special access to new ship/itinerary bookings from Disney Cruise Line. 

Program Tiers: 

• Silver - 1 to 4 cruises. Receive the opportunity to book new itineraries at least 1 day before the general public, add cruise activities 90 days prior to sailing, select port arrival time, and complete online check-in 33 days prior to sailing, exclusive cruise terminal check-in where available, Castaway Club Member exclusive phone number and member communications, and a welcome back aboard gift.

Program: Mariner Society

Sign Up/How it Works: Enrolled automatically after the first cruise. You earn 1 credit each day you sail, plus extra credits for booking suites and spending onboard.

Program Tiers: 

• 1-Star Mariner - After 1st cruise. Includes up to $400 per stateroom onboard spending money for cruises booked within 90 days of a new season launch, gift, "Mariner Cocktail" voucher, and 50% discount on cruise fares for 3rd/4th guests (on select sailings).

You earn 1 point every day you sail, 1 point for a premium suite or penthouse, 1 point each night on a Seabourn Journey, and 1 for each $500 spent onboard. Points go toward Milestone Awards, which includes a complimentary cruise after sailing for 140 days with Seabourn.  

Program Tiers:

• Gold - 70 to 139 points. Sign Up/How it Works: Enrolled automatically after the first cruise. You’ll earn one point per cruise day for most bookings, 1.5 points per cruise day for bookings on Wind Class suites or Deluxe Suites on Star Plus Class, and 2 points per cruise day for Owner’s and Classic Suites on the Star Plus Class and the Bridge Suite on Wind Surf. 

Program Tiers:

• One Star - 1-15 points. Includes 5% cruise fare saving plus an additional 5% for onboard bookings or bookings within 60 days after disembarkation. 5% off unlimited laundry package, Wi-Fi, Windstar branded merchandise, and customized keycard. 
• Two Star - 16-39 points. Includes all perks of the above tier, plus $50 onboard credit per person and 5% off Windstar shore excursions.
