You can pay by the glass/can, about $4/ea. So if you see a sale for the soda package between $8-10, it makes sense to get since 2-3 sodas will cost as much, plus the pkg. add Freestyle access. Standard teas, including some herbals, are free but self serve. Teas hot or iced from the coffee shop are charged for. If on a ship with a Starbucks kiosk, those are NOT covered by any drink package.

Royal has tea compliments of your sailing. I bring things like MIO and Gatorade packets and my water bottle and make my own drinks.

If you are not flying or get to port early, each person can bring on a 12 of can sodas (Carnival). Of course you can bring your own tea bags.
