Grandeur of the Seas Cruise Reviews - Q&A

4.0
Few questions 1. When will we get luggage tags, cabin assignment (we didn’t choose ours)…etc? Supposed to depart May 20th. The app is saying check in is available April 5th. 2. Got the alcohol drinking package…when we board do we need to do anything or is it connected to our sea pass that we will receive?3. What’s the address for the Miami port? Is there a secure parking deck? We will be driving through the night and will arrive the morning of our departure date.4. Do all cabins have a safe?5. When check in becomes available, will there be more things to see on the app? For example, choosing our boarding time?

Yes, all the cabins have safes which are very easy to use. Your drink package will be loaded onto your Seapass card. You should be able to print your luggage tags. And yes, once check in is available it will show just about everything you need to know. Hope you enjoy the Lady G as much as we have. We miss her In Baltimore.

Your luggage tags will be available about 3 weeks prior, however if a room hasn’t yet been assigned, there won’t be a cabin # till it is. Cabins can be assigned up till departure. Your drink package will be assigned to your cruise card. All cabins have a small safe, it’s inside a cupboard. There will be tons of info on the app. Port of Miami info is all part of your cruise documents you can print off about 3 weeks prior. That’s were your baggage tags are as well, on about page 19 of the documents. Tags can be made at the pier as well by the baggage handlers. Bon Voyage

3. Not sure about parking but the port address and terminal will be in your packet. 4. To the best of my knowledge all cabins have a safe. it isn't very big but it will hold wallets, passports, some jewelry and watches. 5. The app at times is very dynamic. As the cruise gets closer the Daily Planner will become more populated. Your boarding time will be selected during checkin. Hope this helps

Inside the packet will be a luggage tag that you need to print - 1 for each bag you will not carry on yourself. The packet will also have your room number and the address of the port and terminal of the ship. 2. The alcohol package starts automatically once you board. Use the barcode on your Set Sail pass until you receive your Sea Pass cards. .

Whew - let's see if I can help.....1. A couple weeks prior to departure, your your cruise "ticket" packet will become available. We book online through RC so ours comes via email but it is also available online under your cruise when logged into your online account.

3c) Personally I would not drive straight through night to arrive on time for the physical check-in, since then until actual sail away can be a very hurry-up to wait type of experience and you will want to be somewhat fresh to explore the ship before it gets too crowded or busy with activities. Try to schedule the ride that the drive can get 4-6 hours of sleep somewhere prior to arriving at the terminal.

1d) If your cabin number has not been assigned by the time you have left to print your edocs, a porter at the cruise terminal will write up tags for you on embarkation day. You need not print your SetSail (boarding) pass an electronic version is fine. But be warned at times there is no signal within some terminals so also have an offline version available (screens hot or PDF saved document).

1c)The online check-in is required to generate both your SetSail pass and your edocs. Within the edocs is the luggage tags, populated w/ the passenger names, 1/person that can be printed out in as many copies needed. The tags need only be affixed to your checked - luggage. The ability to start or edit you online check-in closes out 72 hours prior to boarding day.

2a) The Deluxe Beverage package is associated with your booking until you can get your SailPass cards. cabins don't open until sometime between 1&2pm until then you use your SetSail pass from the online check-in to buy anything on board or as proof of package purchase. Restrictions of the Beverage package are listed at Royalcaribbean.com FAQ pages.

1a) When you book a guaranteed stateroom category (GNT) Royal, can wait until embarkation day to assign your cabin out of the pool of left over cabins or you could get a notification sooner if the ship is close to full. The cabin location is not needed to be able to do the online check-in.

1b) The online check-in is best done on the full website's Cruise Planner because the mobile app often glitches, + it's easier to see the sections you can skip to get to where you pick your pre-boarding Arrival Time faster.

3b) There will be plenty of signs to direct you once inside the property. http://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/cruise-terminals.asp will be your best source of current info about parking.

3a) For the general terminal enterance you can use 2000 N Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132 for GPS directions, but the exact termin number will be on your edocs &/or SetSail pass.

4a) All cabins have safes, as to where they are each cabin can be a little different. Some are in the closet, some are in under the TV behind cupboard doors, and on 1 ship we found it sitting on top of the minibar cooler cabinet. It will ne just big enough for a small purse, a couple of wallets, a jewelry roll, and a few smartphones or single 9" or smaller tablet.

3d) As mentioned the cabins will not be available for occupation until sometime between 1&2pm so no private rest area until then at the earliest. Since they are cleaning not all public venues are open to passengers so many congregate at the Centrum, Windjammer buffet, Solarium, and various pool deck bars.

5b) The app is primarily for use on the ship (no fee) & works its best in real-time only once it is connected to the ship's system, until then it suffers from lags and delays plus some outright misinformation (often showing things for the cruise that is happening right now).

5a) The full website's Cruise Planner is a better source of items available for preboarding purchase like excursions, spa/salon appointments, dinning/internet/photo packages, and many other options. Most of which will be more expensive once on board.

5g) The order is based on C&A loyalty levels & which cabin category purchased. So those in suites, that are in a cabin w/ Pinnacles, & those that purchased the Key get the highest boarding priority. After that the rest of the order is somewhat at the port authority personnel discretion.

5f) Those with early arrival times often wind-up being seated in the terminal waiting on the government clearances to be given to start boarding. If passengers are waiting in the terminal there is a pecking order as to whom gets to board when.
