Who can pack for 7 day cruise in a carry on only?

We must fly to most ports we cruise from, so always trying to minimize our luggage to avoid checking bags. (Really hate the wait at baggage claim). Was able to pack in a carry-on sized bag for a 7-day out of Miami. Anyone else ever do that on for a 7-day? Shoes and more formal wear seem to be the challenge. Share any hacks.

I think it can be done. You will probably find some videos on youtube with people showing how they do it. I will consider trying it on the cruise we are going out of that leaves San Juan but I am not sure the little bit of hassle it will save will out weigh the thought of not having enough clothes.

I love packing light, we usually have a carry on size each. We’ve done 3 weeks in Europe in November plus 1 week in Singapore, 10 night honeymoon in Fiji (including snorkels) and look forward to using our small bags for our first cruise in March - 7 night Asian cruise out of Singapore with 8 nights in Singapore afterwards. I love a good challenge!

Agreed, and while we weren't exactly being cheap, we didn't start to have our laundry done until it became free. And it certainly did change what we bring, especially on longer trips.. I don't know of very many cruise ships where you can do your own. And we certainly agree, doing laundry on a cruise is a contradiction in terms hehehe

Confessions of an over packer here. I always fly to port because we live so far away. When it comes to packing I am the girly girl, I need choices of dresses and shoes and accessories. That being said, paying the check bag fee on the airline isn't a deal-breaker simply because I know how picky I am. I think it boils down to what others are saying, men are usually able to pack lighter then women and still be happy. Those of us who enjoy choices and colors find it harder. Also, I refuse to do laundry on vacation.

"Interesting"....ummm...yeh...last time I wore clothes that long they were green and they were paying me to do it. I think staying upwind would be a requirement...good luck!!!!

I'm packing a very small carry on. It's called a CIAO and available from Costco. It will fit under the seat on an airplane. It's going to be interesting packing. I'm also bringing a backpack as my carry on.

It's going to be interesting since the cruise comes halfway through a 2 month USA Coast to Coast bicycle tour. I'll be returning back to the bike tour the day we return to Bayonne.

I'm thinking I may be okay with just two bags, at least that is what I'm aiming for, but guess I'll just wait and see how well I do in that!!!

We just got lucky with this cruise that its leaving out of Boston, so it's only like a 2 hour drive or so to get there, but I am sure that if we take another cruise after this first one we may not be so lucky as to be able to leave out of Boston.

If we could drive to the ports - we wouldn't even try. The only port that's driving distance for us is Galveston and we don't sail from there much. Air travel with bags sucks the wind out of the vacation.

That's great that you and your wife were able to do that for a week long cruise, I'm going to try and not go crazy and pack a bunch of stuff, because I myself don't want to carry too many bags even though we're lucky enough to drive to where we leave out of for our cruise.
