An older cruise ship. Cleanliness not always what was expected and seen on other cruises. Needs improvement on the activities available on the ship. Few activities for younger folks. Activities geared toward seniors.

Very bad air in the Casino. Too much smoking. Need to have a smoke free lounge and casino.

We have been on two cdruises with Holland America and plan to use this line for an Alaska cruise and Mediterranean Cruise

An upscale Century Village on water. They claim the average age was 67, but I think they were counting the staff in their calcs. A great cruise for great-grandparents and their older children.

Ship was well maintained and staff was always cleaning the public areas.

Ship maintenance is excellent, however we experienced sewage smell just outside the cabin (deck 7 forward) and cigarette smoke from next door cabin that prevented us from enjoying the verandah. Food and entertainment were excellent, staff is top notch and very caring.

The ports were all closed because of some holiday. Therefore, no shopping as stores were closed. I'm sure Holland Am. knew this in advanced but failed to tell the passengers. They also failed to tell us Curraso was omited from the itinerary.

Excellent service and cleanliness of ship

We had a great time on the cruise. The ship is clean and nice but it is essentially an older crowd of passengers. The food was ok but the fine dining restaurant which was an additional $20 per person was exceptional and well worth the expense.

The ship was somewhat old but well maintained, although kept cooler than was comfortable. The food was excellent and the service of the Indonesian and Filipino crew was outstanding. The entertainment was only fair, but the steel drum band was excellent. The excursion that we took in Costa Rica was rougher than expected, a very bumpy bus ride and no enough sites seen. We in general had a fairly relaxing time.

First time with Holland America and I would sail again with them.

The ship itself was beautiful and the perfect size. The cabin rooms were great and the cabin stewards were very helpful and attentive. The ship was generally clean, particularly in the common areas, and everything was very accessible. The food wasn't fantastic in the general dining options - including nightly dinners, but there is were enough options to somewhat satisfy most customers. The hours for the buffet were a bit odd, as food wasn't always available when you were ready to eat.

This is the second time sailing on the Zuiderdam. The first was on the ship when it was six months old. The Zuiderdam still looks and feels brand new. My favorite piece of artwork "The Mermaid Masquarade Ball" was still there and just as beautiful. Even though we sailed on December 3rd, I was kind of hoping Christmas decorations would be up. Decorations were going up when we disembarked on the 13th. Throughly enjoyed both shore excursions I went onl

First let me say there is no such thing as a "bad cruise". That being said, this was the worst cruise we've ever taken, and we would never cruise Holland America again, especially on the Zuiderdam. Ship had many problems.

The ship was very clean and the crew was always polite. The food and presentation was very great and very elegant. The ports were exciting andthe ship was always on time for each stop. I would highly recommend HAL and the Zuiderdam.

The ship was great and services were outstanding. The only complaint is the process to get on the ship. Lines were very long but thankfully the process was indoor.

The ship is lovely, the staff was excellent. It is just better suited older people.
