Great Ship. Do not trust , they will give you a runaround,

This was our first cruise on a "Dam" Ships and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We looked forward to each night to see what kind of towel animal we would be seeing. The food was wonderful and we appreciated the choice weather or not to dine in the dining room or buffet according to our schedule. The size of the ship afforded the opportunity of meeting many other guests and forming enjoyable new acquaintances.

We met some very nice people. The waiters were all good at any deck. Our cabin was clean. The entertainment was excellent.

We enjoyed all aspects of this cruise.Already planning our next cruise with Holland America.

The ship itself was too large for my tastes. The decorating was gaudy like a Las Vegas casino.

When we walked into our cabin and it reeked of cigarett smoke, we were very upset. Cabin steward tried everything available to rid the room of the smell. Ship really should have NON-smoking specified rooms. Food selection was very limited at dinner time in the buffet. Deserts were limited and not enough ice cream for passengers. Spent too much time in Haines with little to do/see where we should have had more time in ketchikan or Juneau. Entertainment in main lounge was like where all the too old or over weight dancers go to retire, shows were not that great. Thank goodness for the theater and the movies not much in the way of well timed activities on board. Shops were very limited with merchandise. We have sailed on Carnival several times and quality and service have gone down hill so we were really hoping for a wonderful experience on Holland America it was not and we will not be sailing on this line again.

at the sea days were long and boring but overall was a good cruise.

We recently sailed on the MS Zaandam, she is a beautiful ship. The only problem we had is the air conditioning system. Some areas of the ship were cold, others were comfortable. The other major problem was the showers water temp. It was to hot, one could not set the temp to a comfortable setting.

Majority of ships crew were excellent. Most of the entertainers on the cruise were excellent. When an accident occurred on one of the tenders, we were never asked if we were injured or needed assistance. Very poor communication by the crew members.

The ship was wonderful. Very clean (the crew is always working to keep ship clean and neat).

the food was wonderful, the staff was great. Lacked daytime entertainment such as games etc. LOts of wheelchairs. We laughted and say, they must have taken everyone from a retirement home on the cruise.

our room was big' great view of the ocean, loved it.lots storage to put clothes in' all of our luggagehad a place. our bath room even had a tub nice size. couch to watch tv,had it all. our cabin steward was the greatess,he was beyond good. the whole staff was nice. our shore excurions were fun and worth the money.

We thouroughly enjoyed our trip. This is a pretty boat with spacious cabins, an attentive crew and fun suprises along the way. The food was very good and the ship was well maintained.

Holland America Zaandam was absolutely fabulous It was the absolute best service you will ever expierence. The restaraunts from the dining room to the liddo deck to the Pinnacle Grill cannot be beat. The food the accomodations the service so fantastic words do not do it justice.

If you didn't get to the Lido restaurant by 10 a.m., you got no breakfast and had to wait till 11:30 a.m. for lunch, which you didn't get after 1:30 P.M.

Service was excellent, better than other cruise lines we've been on. Food was very good, nice variety. My husband liked the ice cream bar every afternoon. Entertainment was lacking, but didn't bother us too much since we were dealing with medical issues ourselves and were happy to sit and read most of the day. Mostly an older crowd, so young active people would have been bored. We renewed our wedding vows (after 30 years) and they did an excellent job arranging that. The captain was friendly.

Easy layout of the decks. Lots of activities. Automatic tipping.

Overall everything was great, the service was very good, the entertainment great. The only negative point was that there was a sewer smell on public places and in stateroom for several days of the trip.

The cabin and food on the Zandaam were excellent. The ship is beautiful. The Cruise Director was mistakenly under the impression that because the passenger base was older that they didn't need much fun on the cruise out. It was boring beyond belief.
