7 Night Alaska Explorer (Seattle Roundtrip)
Sail Date: July 23, 2010
Ship: Zaandam
Cabin Type: Inside
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 7 years ago
Did not find the ship to have enough to do and the service was lousy. The fact that routine maintenance was done to the pool in Atrium for 5 days during the cruise was unacceptable and the front desk were not able to tell me why and did not provide me with an update as promised.

Service and Staff

Some staff were wonderful but overall they did not appear to be well trained and were not all that cheery or helpful. Main focus was to clean up and remove chairs not put chairs out or provide service.

Pros: Food, Cabin size, real bed,

Cons: servide was poor, main pool down for 5 days due to routine maintenance - did not get back to me as to why. Ship was not well maintained and showed wear, toilets broken. Poorly managed staff. Itineary required a lot of time on open sea and not enough scenary - lots of sea sickness

Recommends Zaandam? No.
