Review summary

This is one of the nicest ships afloat today. It is laid out like many of the other RCL super ships but it is newer and has a more "modern" look. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. We've sailed "higher end" cruise lines and while those offer some amenities not found on this ship, I didn't find anything really missing here. Even though it is a big ship, it doesn't feel crowded. There are always places to go to get some peace and quiet if you want it. All in all, great cruise. Would highly recommend.

Embarkation

Extremely efficient at the Rome cruise terminal; our 3rd time leaving out of Rome and all have been extremely well organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was quite good and service was excellent. Look, it's hard to cook for 6000 people so not everything is perfect but it was as good or better than the other 24 cruises I've been on.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Lots of variety; well organized

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great comedians and the water show (Aqua Theatre) was fantastic!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Friendly and helpful. We had a few "special requests" (rebookings on shore excursion, private transportation, etc) and all were handled quickly and without problems.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Wow. What a cabin. Lots of storage, great balcony, room to spread out. And the location (18th floor) is fantastic.

Ship tip

Don't plan a shore excursion for everyday. Take a day or two to enjoy all the ship has to offer.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
So much to see. It is a bit of a journey between the city and the port. But otherwise, awesome city.

Naples, Italy Did not visit port

We had been to Naples several times so just stayed on the ship.

Barcelona, Spain

4 out of 5
Great walking city. Better if not on a Sunday when many things are closed.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

4 out of 5
Good city center for walking / shopping.

Marseille (Provence), France

1 out of 5
City center not worth going to. Take one of the side trips (e.g. Aix en Provence)

La Spezia, Italy

3 out of 5
Nothing to do at La Spezia itself but close to Cinqe Terre. Florence is a long trip from the port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Couldn't be any easier.
