We boarded in Civativecchia, Italy and after boarding, found out that the ship's app didn't work for us. This seemed to be due to a scheduling overlap as we joined in the middle of a scheduled cruise itinerary and ours wasn't separately called out on the system.
Without the app it subtracted time from our trip to manage the administrative items the app would handle. This meant standing in the long customer service lines to re-schedule shows, meals, excursions. We didn't get certain boarding items due to joining the cruise mid-week. For my first cruise, it seemed like we were outside the normal process and fun.

The My Time Dining, and all specialty restaurants were impeccable with both service and food quality, with one exception. The second night aboard we had paid for dinner at the Solarium Bistro and were very disappointed. The service from our waitress was great. The attention to the buffet items, was extremely poor. The heat lamps were drying the food out, there wasn't staff available to cut the meat portions for those items. The overall selection was limited and we didn't enjoy that evening's dining.

The Pools and Abyss slide were great. We also spent our at sea day in the spa. The staff was wonderful and the service was worth the cost. The only item I would say fell short was the pressured sales pitch following our massages. The staff were pressure selling the follow up suggestions and products, that it made us a little uncomfortable. Up to that point, it was wonderful.

Make sure the app works for your schedule. Book your excursions in advance. The drink package was a pleasant, yet expensive luxury. Would buy it again.
Beautiful port with so much to see. The trip from the pier was a little far and added an unwelcomed and surprise cost. Our docking was also delayed and caused tours to fall short of expectation.
