Review summary

Cruising on Voyager is not like the big ships, but it is still a fun ship! Consider going on a smaller ship for different ports and a different vibe!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Used Royal Caribbean's Air2Sea program. Flights were great, picked up from airport in Barcelona by Royal Caribbean, taking on a tour of Barcelona and then transferred to the ship for embarkation. We never had to deal with our luggage or anything, Royal Caribbean took care of everything!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food in the MDR was excellent, sat at a shared table with others and had a great time getting to know other people and hearing about their travels.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

Food in the Windjammer was good, on par with the MDR. Service and crew members in the Windjammer were excellent, and the area was kept clean and stocked.

Viking Crown Lounge

5 out of 5

The drinks in the Viking Crown Lounge were delicious and the views were not to be missed. Cannot recommend you visit the Viking Crown Lounge enough!

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

The service and vibe at the Schooner Bar are always immaculate. It's like the heart and soul of Royal Caribbean. It's a must-stop bar for us!

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

Stopped in for lunch one day and had an excellent meal! Would highly recommend trying Johnny Rockets for lunch.

Cafe Promenade

5 out of 5

The food and service were excellent on this cruise. Enjoyed tasty snacks from Cafe Promenade in the evenings when dinner was not too filling!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The onboard activities like the pool, fitness center, and spa were all excellent. It was a very port-intensive itinerary, so we did not use many of the onboard activities very much.

Day Spa and Fitness Center

5 out of 5

Had a massage and it was excellent. I always enjoy a massage on a cruise, combining the best of both worlds!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The music and stage shows were great. We enjoyed going to the shows and entertainment to unwind after a busy day in port.

Theater

5 out of 5

The theater was large and modern with plenty of different shows for different tastes. Enjoyed a production show in the theater one night of the cruise.

Children's Programs

We did not take children on this cruise

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The room steward and MDR waiters made this cruise special. They went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and exceeded!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was well-designed and laid out. Everything was well-maintained and clean. It is a pleasure to go on Royal Caribbean cruises because of the care they take when maintaining their ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Had an oceanview stateroom. Enjoyed watching the water occasionally splash on the porthole as we were sailing. The room was well-appointed and spacious. Room Steward kept the room clean and tidy for us.

Ship tip

Don't discredit small ships; Small cruise ships can be just as much fun as the new, big ships!

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

4 out of 5
The Port was nice, locals were friendly. There was a lot to see and do in Barcelona. Only downside was the city seemed very dirty when we visited. Many, many cigarette butts littering the streets.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Quite enjoyed Naples, we visited Pompeii at this port. Would highly recommend trying a local slice of pizza here, too!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
Rome was very dirty, once again littered with many cigarette butts. People were not very friendly and it was summertime, so there were huge crowds at all the sites. Ended up doing a bus tour and returning to the ship.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
We chose to visit Florence at this stop. It was a great port and we enjoyed our excursion, a walking tour of Florence, which we booked through Royal Caribbean.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

4 out of 5
This was an enjoyable port stop. We visited Monte Carlo at this port. It was a great day and we even visited the famous casino in Monte Carlo. Highly recommend!

Marseille (Provence), France

2 out of 5
Worst port we visited. The locals were incredibly rude and the town was so dirty, it stunk! From this experience, I would not recommend getting off at this port. Stay on the ship and enjoy the amenities!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quick and simple. We had a Royal Caribbean transfer back to the airport that went very smoothly!
