Review summary

The South Pacific is a great itinerary for first cruisers. This is our 2nd trip just around the South Pacific and what we found is sometimes the weather isn't great the first time and better the 2nd so don't worry about visiting a place twice. In good weather most places will standout for you. We have now been to Lifou 3 times. Mystery Island twice. If you can afford it, go the Junior Suite you get great benefits, quick on & off the boat at all ports.

Embarkation

Excellent, Royal Caribbean do this very well. Plus we are members so that was even quicker. Also if you book a suite of any kind you get on quicker as well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Windjammer / the buffet was excellent. The main dining was not as good as we have experienced previously. Very plain foods.

Onboard Activities

I swam in the pool (not big enough) and used the steam room and gym spa facilities. The Gym provides some free classes which were great, I enjoyed, keep up the great work. The spa centre was good, I had a bamboo massage, awesome! I recommend having one! Tried the Rock climbing, it was too hard.. tried the Ice skating & I fell & hit my head again it was too hard. I didn't do the Flo rider this time but that is fun, waiting lines a bummer though. We played putt-putt bit windy.

Swimming Pools

Swimming pools could be bigger for the amount of people

Entertainment

We enjoyed all the shows, we only missed a couple due to meal bookings. Great music & entertainers, Comedian was great and Queen cover band excellent too.

Ice Odyssey were awesome we saw them twice & loved both performances. XX

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We had a great room steward. Table staff were good. Bar staff were great, polite & friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Some areas are looking a bit run down & tired. But most areas are clean and maintained. Voyager has some dead areas like St Tropez which are useless spaces. And the kids area could be bigger.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Awesome cabin, loved having a Junior suite for the first time. Heaps of space, we didn't fill all the cupboard and walking robe space we had available. We also loved having a bath, nothing better to relax at night. (we love baths) great having a large bed. Only complaint was the pillows so soft for my personal preference.

Ship tip

The South Pacific is a great itinerary for your first cruise. If you can afford it go Junior Suite you get great benefits.

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
No, but we love going to Sydney so we just took ferries around to see the Harbour

Lifou Isle, New Caledonia

Hiked to the Church for the view of the Ship in the Bay. It was very hot but worth it. Then went snorkelling at Jokin bay - heaps of fish & easy access.

Port Vila, Efate, Vanuatu

5 out of 5
There is so much to do in Vila we will go back. Went on the Bridges of Eden, and for the more adventurous go Zip-lining it was awesome.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu

5 out of 5
Love this spot! Beautiful location, clear waters & plenty of fish. The tide was very strong for snorkelling. Be wary if poor swimmers. We did a reef snorkel and it was hard work swimming against the tide.

Mare Isle, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia

5 out of 5
I absolutely loved this little piece of heaven! Picture perfect the weather was great and the snorkelling even better. Accessible and clear and we snorkelled for 3 hours, I couldn't stop! I've never seen so many Nemo fish!

Noumea, New Caledonia

5 out of 5
Lots to do in Noumea, went Kayaking on the Dunbea River that was fun, good guides & lovely location. Able to go for a swim as it was hot! Then we browsed around the city, very busy. Be warned change some money into Francs as all the shops have different exchange rates.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick & easy again Royal Caribbean are good at this.
