Review summary

We've taken 8 cruises on RCCL over the last 16 years and have watched the quality steadily decline. We have also cruised with Celebrity ,  NCL, Princess and Carnival, so we do have a basis for comparison.

The service has declined, probably due to noticeable reduction of staff, to just average. Many of the staff appear unhappy or overworked. Food  is just average; no entree that we had in the main dining room was exceptional.  The Voyager is  in need of some repairs as well; nothing major that we noticed, but little things.

Three of  the four  ports of call were nothing special. I guess an island is an island whether it is  in the South Pacific or the Caribbean.  The island of Mare had  a lovely beach with a coral reef about 100 yards out where the waves broke; beautiful.

We arrived in Sydney 5 days ahead  of cruise and it was a wonderful place to explore on our own. It was the highlight of our trip.

I have seen the same on most cruiselines but its all to do with the massive choice now available. cruising is an inexpensive vacation that offers so much. They have to make these changes to be able to stay competitive otherwise...pardon the pun...they would sink.

We do get spoilt and complacent, maybe try something different. Cruises are cheap and it seems everyone can afford them now. I do like Windjammer but love the dining room experience with friends! The whole experience from dressing up, meeting and greeting friends n staff and the food is a complete experience. But then I'm a very simple country girl so anything above a farmhouse meal with kids would please me! We all have different standards but I love the whole experience.

^^ That can't always be everyone's response. They're allowed to have things they like and don't like. We're just supposed to be happy with everything just because we can afford it? Makes no sense. I love RC but eat mainly in Windjammer. The main dining room food isn't worth how long it takes to get thru a meal.
