Ship: Vision of the Seas

Cabin number: GTY

Review summary

The boat was great. The staff were excellent. Royal Carribian as a company puts profits over everything. Got 2/3 of our destinations wiped off our itinerary with returned port fees as the only act of compensation.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was great for my first time

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was great. A little repetitive by day 9, but overall great.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Good things to do for all activity levels.

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The room was fairly clean. The service from the crew was second to none.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Common areas were clean and tidy most of the time. Only a random dish or 2 laying around from people placing them in random places.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room is tight, as expected. The mirrors and glass in the room could use a good cleaning as well the vents and ducts. Bed was fairly comfortable.

Ship tip

This is a smaller ship in the fleet. And therefore will be the first to be bumped off of ports to allow for larger ships if overbooked or inclement weather occurs.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

3 out of 5
Industrial port, no excursions

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5
Found the people to be friendly and the sights was top notch.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Got bumped by a larger ship and lied to about it

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas Did not visit port

Also got bumped from this port for a larger ship

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Got rerouted to Orlando instead of the bahamas and had to endure a 3+ hour mandatory customs inspection.

First it's a ship..and a small one at that. The itinerary does change depending on safety. A day on a ship is better than being at home. We had itineraries that were canceled last year when we took the Norwegian Cruise line. You were supposed to go to Virginia Beach scratched Bermuda. We couldn't go because the government didn't want anybody on the ship without a covet shot last year. Poor Canaveral was supposed to be all night scratched.

What did you expect? Sometimes itinerary changes can’t be helped. It is a risk particularly in hurricane season. Safety is first. Maybe rethink cruising.

My guess is that the smaller ship got bumped because its less safe for a smaller ship in a tropical storm.
