This is a nice relaxing cruise from a close(2hrs) port from PA where we live. It’s 9 nights so there is more at sea time (6 nights). The entertainment is top notch so the sea time passes quickly. They have 2 dress to impress theme nights in the main dining room one of which is a “White Night”. They also have a formal night so if you don’t like dressing up you may want to reconsider this cruise. However, the food in the Windjammer was good and hot.
Their Bermuda itinerary was disappointing since they get in late Saturday and leave Sunday. Maybe if they made Bermuda later in the week it would be better since most things in Bermuda were closed Sunday and early Saturday night.
The crew is great and the Vision has won the Best of Royal award for the last two years.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Fast and glitchless
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Main dinning room was perfect with attentive service and good selection
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Main pool was fun with all the standard entertainment, Ie: belly flop competition, world’s sexiest man, etc…
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The main band is Rockport which is the best onboard band we have had in 16 cruises!
The main theater had good shows including a broadway review, a great magician, comedian and the Nashville Tenors.
Children's Programs
We had no kids with us but they seemed to have been kept active and busy
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Very attentive servers, stateroom attendant and fast bar service.
This ship has won the best of Royal award for the last two years!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Older smaller ship originally launched in the mid 1990’s. That being said it has been through at least two upgrades the latest being 2020 or so. It is clean and well kept.
Being a smaller ship with guest capacity of 3000 and crew of 1100 it is a breath of fresh air compared to the large ships with double and triple the capacity.
It has a rock climbing wall but no water slides.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We booked the “we pick for you ocean view” class. It was on the 2nd deck but we had a double picture window, no porthole. The cabin was fairly roomy and surprisingly quiet being that low in the ship. Our attendant was friendly and efficient. Overall it was five stars considering the class.
Ship tip
If you don’t like a friendly crew and a clean vessel then the Vision is not for you. Baltimore is a central location for the mid-Eastern States so you don’t have the hassle of flying and limiting your luggage.
We give this three stars because evidently no one realized that getting into port at 2:30 on a Saturday only leaves you about 2 hours to get across the bay to Hamilton for any touring and shopping. Bermuda in on “Island time” which means every thing closed by 5:00-5:30. Than you are there on Sunday till 2:00pm but most businesses are closed on Sunday.
The do offer excursions but if you just want to wander around you better get back by 1:30!
Nassau is a nice little port but the locals have become extremely pushy in trying to sell you some of their wares and services. To the point of following you up the street or beach hawking you constantly. This is so different since we were last there 2 years ago that it is a big turnoff for us.
We really don’t care to ever go there again.
Coco Cay is not the quiet island ( Guilligan’s Island) that it used to be.
They still have plenty of beach but there are so many chairs jammed in that if you don’t get into the first two rows you can’t see the water.
Also, it’s all junked up with splash parks and water slides. If you have kids I’m sure it would be a fun but expensive day for you.
Thanks ! My wife and I are leaving in 2 weeks!
Good to know the timing in Bermuda. We noticed that we get there late and leave early.
We are looking forward to our cruise!
Thanks for the review. I'm glad you had a nice time. I'll be sailing ⛵️ on Vision Labor Day weekend. On the formal nights, if folks don't want to dress up (I don't), they can go to the Windjammer Cafe.
