Review summary

Never again. We are avid cruisers and have tried Royal now 3 times... This will be our last. First night I was served something I was allergic to, which caused a throat reaction and not being able to breathe correctly. Through a comedy of errors and poor service - I missed the first four days of the cruise due to sheer stupidity. The medical team gave me DayQuil... To which the first ingredient I am ALLERGIC. Main dining room staff apologized but blamed the kitchen. Medical team could not tell me anything and would not listen to what I needed (having had this allergy my whole life). I was offered a "future cruise credit valued for one day" and had to ask for my gratuities to be withheld as we did not dine in the dining room again due to service. Buffet was average. Rooms were outdated but we expected that. Ship was dirty and poorly kept up.

Interior room. Laid out sideways. Typical stateroom. Was right above theater so in evenings or during events could hear the bass of the music. Room was dirty and outdated.

Ship tip

Ship was dirty and outdated. Found dust and dirt in very normal, seen places that was obviously overlooked for at least a year

RCL parked 2 miles from the train station (which is one hour from Rome). Provided free shuttles into Civitecchia, but even the dropoff point was a 20 min walk from train station.

Did anyone cruise to colon, Panama on vision of the seas? How rough was the water with that 11 day cruise?

Just curious on why you didn't pack benadryl? I don't have any reactions that sever but I always throw some into our medicine bag. I heard they were expensive on the ship and were crazy expensive on Oasis.

Obviously the allergy issue played a large part in your disliking of this cruise. However having been on the Vision early Oct have to admit the ship needs a serious makeover or RC sell it. We found the ship worn, poor food, horrendous engine noise and generally a lack quality staff that serve. But worst of all was cleanliness..pretty non existent, never saw toilets cleaned once in whole cruise. It appears RC have forgotten COVID cleaning and since returning have found out many of my fellow passengers inc my wife caught covid on board..Not good. Oh and we have cruised with RC in excess if 30 times so in a pretty good position to judge.. Never again on this ship..

Carnival only for me from now on. Been on vision of the seas, toooo small for rough seas.

Thanks for your review. Did you make them aware of your food and drug allergies prior to sailing and during your cruise? That may have made a difference. I have a seafood and shellfish allergy and I take my epipen everywhere

I was served something I was allergic to OR I ordered something I knew I was allergic to, as I've had this allergy all my life and didn't bring my medication.

Sounds like too many issues to cruise or travel.

Thanks for sharing . Curious if you notified ship of any food allergies prior to boarding?

Sorry about your bad experience but why didn’t you bring the antidote to your allergy if it’s that dangerous?

AuntPinkie    2 years ago

Sorry you were disappointed and had major medical issues.

We’ve always had a great experience with Royal Caribbean. But we’re not germaphobes that go around checking for gust in every location either.
