We had a great time but I wish we would’ve canceled it because of the virus. It’s was very risky and we quarantined for 2 weeks after we got back. Not because we where sick or anyone one on the ship was sick but our work thought we needed too.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were some of the 1st to get on and it went smoothly even though they were taking our temperatures
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We ate at the dinning room twice and specialty dining the rest of the time. The two nights at the dinning room was just okay. The windjammer was very small on this ship which I think limits the variety of food that can be put out. The food is very average and a few things were better than average. We ate at Chops and it was not very good. We usually love the dinners there but the steak was lacking any flavor so we didn’t go back. Giovanni‘s on the other hand was excellent and we went multiple times.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My wife enjoyed the pool and the activities out there.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We didn’t attend any shows but went to a few events they had.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff in the Diamond lounge was the best we ever had. They made sure everyone was happy and well taken care of. They were very funny and professional. Everyone on the ship seemed very nice and had great attitudes.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was very clean but showed it’s age. It could certainly use updating on the furnishings like chairs, sofa’s and other things. I seen them wiping everything over and over to try to keep us safe from the virus and they did!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin had plenty of room with a good size balcony. They just need to redo the rooms from top to bottom. They are really showing the age. The cabin was very clean and our room attendant did a good job. If you are a tall person 6’ or taller you might not want a room with a bathtub shower. I’m 5’10” and my head was almost touching the ceiling. The tub sets up high from the floor.
Ship tip
If your looking for all the things that come with the bigger ships this is not for you. The ship is small and doesn’t come with all those amenities. One good thing is it never seemed crowded at all and we had 2200 people on board.
We took and excursion through the ship to go whale watching. We seen 5 humpback’s with a calf and a lot of dolphins. The crew was amazing and worked very hard to find them. The water was very ruff and my wife got sea sick. She had the patch on and that didn’t help because the boat was all over the place. I would make sure the water is as smooth as glass before you do this one. We then walked around the port area and the few local vendors were not pushy at all. Nohing to do outside the ship
We walked off the ship and across the street to the marina. Look for Tickles restaurant took the water taxi to Water Island for $10 round trip. The beach is nice but the view is amazing. We ate lunch at Tickles right where you catch the water taxi and it some
of the best food we had on the trip.
We got off the ship and walked over to the water taxi. It goes to Grand Anes Beach and cost $10 round trip. The only problem is they want to fill the water taxi up and you might have to wait a while. We went outside the port area and walked to a market and then back to the ship. Nothing to see outside the port within walking distance.
Everything went as smooth as possible considering we got into port 4 hrs late. Puerto Rico would not let us dock. The captain said Royal Caribbean finally talked them into letting us dock.
Same with us we were in the same situation sailed on the Rhapsody 3/7 to 3/14. We had a great time luckily had no issues but had the damn virus in mind all the time.
Glad you had a good cruise. Thank you for taking the time to write such an informative review. We are scheduled on the Vision of the Seas next February and are really looking forward to it.
